PEOPLE OF THE WORLD!
๐ NATIVE AMERICAN EXCELLENCE IN THE SWEET 16! ๐
As the world turns, our people are standing tall on the biggest stage in college basketball. We have powerful representation still fighting in the NCAA March Madness Sweet 16.
From the veteran leadership on the sidelines to the young warriors on the court, letโs show them our support this weekend:
THE LEADERSHIP:
1. Kelvin Sampson (Lumbee Tribe): The veteran Head Coach of the #1 seed Houston Cougars. He has his team hunting for a National Championship and continues to show the world what Indigenous leadership looks like at the highest level.
THE MENS BRACKET:
2. Dylan Darling (Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation): The starting point guard for St. Johnโs. He just hit a massive buzzer-beater to sink Kansas and send his team to the Sweet 16!
3. Dayton Forsythe (Chickasaw Nation): a standout freshman guard for the Oklahoma Sooners who is helping lead their tournament run.
THE WOMENS BRACKET:
4. Lexy Keys (Cherokee Nation): A veteran leader and defensive powerhouse for the Oklahoma Sooners. They are headed to the Sweet 16 after a huge win over Michigan State!
5. Amari DeBerry (Mohawk): Playing for the Maryland Terrapins. She was the hero this past weekend, hitting a clutch jumper in double-overtime to punch their ticket to the Sweet 16!
Our people are excelling everywhere! Please check your local listings for game times this Thursday and Friday to catch them in action.
