Understand the obstacles in your path.

Years ago we heard a story about a military base commander who, while out walking around the new facility, ran across 2 soldiers standing guard by a bench.

He asked the officers on base why they were posted there. "Its tradition to guard the bench." was the reply he got from multiple people.

The "Why" didn't make sense, and nobody could tell him any more details about why there were two soldiers posted there. "Its the way its always been." was about as deep as he could go.

Over time he contacted former commanders of the base and each one had the same answer, "Its tradition." They referred him to the previous commander before them for the answer.

Eventually he got to a long retired former commander and his reply finally answered the question. "Isn't the paint dry on that bench yet?"

"The way we've always done it." turned out to be botched orders to keep people off a freshly painted bench in the 1940's.

At Route 66 Labs we approach every project with the same need to know. "Thats the way we've always done it." can be the blind obstacle that you never knew you could get around and succeed.

One of our friends received 4 kilos of "Moon Soil" as part of a NASA project to do home experiments with cultivation. He applied to grow cannabis in it, and was approved! So, to help him get some eyes on the project we helped out with branding the project/strain.
