Agave conducts free classes for the residents of these towns and surrounding areas from your basic computer class to how to build a web site. Agave has built its first fully licensed wireless network covering over 8,000 households in rural New Mexico. We are planning on expanding that network to cover an additional 65,000 households over the next several months. In addition, Agave has applied for additional Community Connect Grants and Government Loans spanning most of the State of New Mexico. Expansion plans are in place to provide our outstanding internet service to residential and business customers in many new underserved areas of New Mexico. Believing that high speed internet opens doors and encourages education, health care and business opportunity, Agave offers it’s superior service to rural areas of New Mexico at affordable prices. Agave Megaband uses a cellular-like infrastructure, covering the Greater Albuquerque Valley with strategically placed base stations. This network of base stations provides seamless wireless broadband throughout the entire coverage area. The base station optimizes use of licensed spectrum, which is capable of transmitting downstream data at rates of up to 50 Mbps, and upstream data via unlicensed spectrum at speeds up to 5 Mbps.

At the customer’s location, two small unobtrusive antennas are mounted on a roof or side of a building; one antenna receives the signal and the other antenna transmits the signal back to the base station. A single Ethernet cable provides upstream Internet connectivity from the roof-mounted CPE built-in to one of the antennas. The downstream service is delivered via an RG6 coaxial cable. Both cables connect to our proprietary CPE, which has an Ethernet handoff to the customer’s network.
