Other countries such as Canada, England and Mexico are beginning to issue official ID cards to service dogs and their owners. Many think this is the first step in preventing people from dressing their dogs in service vests and trying to pass them off as a service animal.

The problem is twofold: It can be humiliating for people who legitimately need the dog to have to hand over a doctor's note and it's easy for people to fake needing a service dog.

Many schools have started utilizing student ID cards as an added security measure. The visual aspect of wearing an ID makes identifying someone who shouldn't be in the building much easier, which decreases the amount of time it takes to take action against an intruder.
