You may have heard about the critical PHP security issue that made headlines last week. So what does that actually mean for your financial institution?

PHP is a technology that runs behind many websites and helps power the things users interact with online. Two critical vulnerabilities were recently discovered that could let an attacker execute code on an affected web server without logging in first.

In plain English, an unpatched server could potentially give a bad actor an opening to access sensitive data, disrupt a website, or reach further into connected systems. That is why security organizations worldwide have urged organizations to update affected PHP installations immediately.

For financial institutions, this is also a reminder that maintaining a website doesn't stop when it launches. Security updates, monitoring, hosting, and having a team ready to respond when issues arise are all part of protecting your digital presence.
