Written, tested incident response plan?
The difference between a yes and a defensible yes is documentation. Your carrier wants receipts, not your word.

If you own a business and you can't get a line-item breakdown of your security spend by end of week, you have a problem that has nothing to do with firewalls.

Ask your IT provider this question today.

"Can you send me a line-item breakdown of what we pay for security?"

Not the total. The products. What each one does, what each one costs.

If that takes more than a day, that is already the finding.

Two things hide inside a bundled invoice. Overlap, where you're paying for two products doing one job because nobody removed the old one. And empty seats, where security is licensed per user but the count never got updated after turnover. You may be paying for people who left in 2022.

We find both constantly. Nobody was watching because nobody could see.

If you run a medical practice, here is something worth knowing before your next IT conversation.
HIPAA does not have a shopping list.

The Security Rule requires safeguards appropriate to the size, complexity, and capabilities of your organization. That language is in the actual regulation. A six-provider practice is not held to the same standard as a 400-bed hospital system.

Good advice starts with your situation, not a product. If someone can't explain why your practice specifically needs something, that's worth pressing on.

You don't have a security problem. You have a security junk drawer. Stuff bought over the years, nobody sure what's actually covered, IT invoice you stopped reading in 2021.
