"In a pleading letter, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, Starbucks founder Howard Schultz, former American Express CEO Ken Chenault, and Walmart CEO Doug McMillon and others asked lawmakers for a list of measures that would help small businesses, which contribute 44% of the country’s GDP and employ half the nation’s private-sector workforce to stay afloat."

A cohort of CEOs from America's biggest businesses call on Congress and the White House to pass more legislation to provide relief as many of the measures expire. The consequences of not doing this promptly, they say, are huge.

The coronavirus pandemic has affected the financial health of everyday Americans and small business owners alike. In a poll conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and MetLife, 47 percent of small business owners said that receiving federal funding through the Paycheck Protection Program was critical to their survival.
