Chris Kelly is a happy owner of the PrimaLuna EVO 300 Hybrid Integrated amp, so we're excited to read his take on the power amp version of this much-loved 12AU7/MOSFET design.

When Chris was approached about this review, he "felt fairly confident that the difference, if any, would be minimal, so no threat to the status quo."

“A dramatic statement in both looks and sound.”
Tom Fine’s review of the Ø Audio Verdande is the cover story of the June 2026 issue of Stereophile. This massive floorstander offers some of the best two-way sound reproduction in the industry. The tweeter uses Ø Audio’s brilliant Quad Vertex horn of which Tom wrote, “Never, with any kind of music, at any listening volume, did the horns sound harsh, nasal, or screamy.”

The woofer is a massive 15” that Ø Audio says, “has an almost scary clean distortion profile and generous linear stroke. But at the same time, it has some capabilities that really help us make that crucial midrange sound just right.”

The result was that the Verdandes gave Tom many hours of enjoyable listening. “They played as loud and large as I wanted for any kind of music, from full-size symphonic to down-and-dirty rock and blues.”

Michael Lavorgna of Twittering Machines has yet again heard the clarifying and enhancing effects of supertweeters, this time with the Fyne Audio SuperTrax and S-Trax. He writes of their effect: "Imagine having a k**b marked 'Refinement' that dials in the level of things like transient response, clarity, and spatial cues ... In other words, all positive improvements without any adverse side effects."

Harmonia Distribution focuses on high performance without eye-wateringly high prices. At Montreal Audiofest 2026, Robert Schryer of Stereophile immediately noticed that the sound of our Ø Audio and PrimaLuna room was “exciting” and “alive”. With members of the press including Jeff Dorgay, Michael Fremer, Steve Guttenberg, and Michael Lavorgna in attendance, Ø Audio launched the new Ymir at AXPONA this morning. “The Ymir is not a ‘mark two’, it’s an evolution,” said Jonathan Magnus Cook, one of Ø Audio’s co-founders.

Imbued with the Viking motto of “speed, agility, and fearlessness”, the Ymir is the new flagship of the Ø Audio armada that’s taking the North American market by storm. The goal with Ymir “is to fit into a normal room by using predictable directivity,” said Sveinung Mala, Ø’s other co-founder, before explaining the extreme engineering that has gone into the completely new drivers developed just for this speaker.

Our room at Montreal Audiofest was one of the show highlights for Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity. Noting that we "were making some great music", Secrets' Editor-in-Chief Carlo Lo Raso stopped by to listen to the Ø Audio Icon 12 driven by an all-PrimaLuna system, and he wrote: "Smooth, effortless, and very 'un-horn-like' sound in here."
