Along with consuming massive amounts of water and electricity, the thousands of AI data centers being built across the US have impacted consumer electronics. Memory and storage is being contracted out from under the average consumer, causing prices to soar, impacting all levels of the PC industry. Many companies are reporting a steep decline in sales across the board, predicting an end to their business in 2027 if this trend is allowed to continue.

This attack on consumer freedom and rights to privacy has to stop! Until now, Google has been the only major tech company to allow users the freedom to decide what apps are installed on their devices. Google is planning on ending this freedom in less than 6 months. This hostile corporate invasion on every facet of our technical lives needs to end.

I was contacted by a person who received an email from one of their contacts posing as a signed document with a file attachment called Scan-doc.msi. When the attachment was opened it prompted the user to enter the computer admin password which, after entered, allowed it to establish a remote host connection for a malicious 3rd party.

When the user stopped using the computer the attacker blocked the screen with a custom privacy image stating the computer was installing updates and should not be turned off. They used the email address that was setup on the computer to send 100s of emails with the same attachment which then alerted the user to the problem.

The incident was reported to ScreenConnect and the file was submitted for analysis.
