Happy Women's History Month! We are extremely proud to have these rock star women on our team. We interviewed a few of CyVig's women in cybersecurity - catch a glimpse of just how special these women are by reading a few of their responses below:
Q: Have you faced any challenges as a woman in cyber security or technology? If so, how have you navigated them?
A: As a woman in any field of tech you are automatically the minority. I have found others instinct to underestimate me a benefit. I know my abilities to succeed as a leader for my company and come in prepared from the start. The best way to diffuse challenges in the office environment is to circumvent them by wins for the department. I keep my head in the game and know my directives and constantly check in with leaders to make sure I am meeting expectations.
-- Sharon Thomas, Director, US Sales
Q: What’s been a highlight/some of the highlights of your career so far?
A: Connecting with people who are passionate and experienced in the cybersecurity landscape.
-- Stephanie Fierro, Sr. Account Executive
Q: Where do you look for inspiration or to continue learning?
A: I continue to learn through various accounting conferences that I attend and publications that are issued to the accounting community. In addition, I am a member of the AICPA and able to network with various other members of the organization, which keeps me apprised of new accounting guidance.
-- Angela Scheigert, Controller
Q: What advice would you give to other women looking to begin a career in cybersecurity?
A: Keep the confidence that as a woman we too can use the tools and resources to have a successful career in Cyber Security.
-- Lawonda Price, Cyber Security Analyst I
