🗓 Monday VDI Tip #2 of 8
Citrix sessions dropping without warning? Here are the 5 most common causes we find in production environments.
The fix is almost never "restart the server." It's understanding what's happening at each layer of the stack.
1. DDC Memory Pressure - Overloaded Delivery Controllers silently drop sessions. Check resource utilization on your DDCs first.
2. Undersized VDAs - RAM and vCPU allocation mismatched to actual user workloads causes silent, recurring instability.
3. Profile Corruption - A single corrupt profile folder can cascade, affecting all sessions for that user across the environment.
4. Hypervisor IOPS Contention - VDI needs predictable storage. Shared pools competing with other workloads kill session stability.
5. NetScaler Session Timeouts - Misconfigured ICA proxy or gateway timeout values drop sessions users believe are still active.
