Vintage from the 1970s? No, not at all. People can make up whatever they want on the internet. Designed and manufactured in the 2020s by Dry Inc.

This print takes an obvious stab at reworking the Robert Indiana LOVE lockup with the addition of HATE added in the background. Like the Robert Mitchum character in Night of the Hunter, the LOVE/HATE struggle is not an easy one. The center letters and star are printed in somewhat off-brand primary colors while the four corners are printed in more true but translucent CMYK colors. Like other prints in this “homage” series, the intent is not to copy or parody but rather revisit and reverentially reference artists using vintage letterpress blocks to evoke iconic artwork while also adding some stream of consciousness pop culture references.

While we can’t bring everything from the dry Inc website, many dry Inc/p22 published items will be alongside the vintage book offerings at book fair June 26-28. If you want anything specifically, be sure to get in touch so we can bring it along.

Along with books from the 20th century, we will have a few 16th century leaves including an Aldine, an Estienne, and a pirated Nuremberg Chronicle leaf. The leaf trade is always a questionable endeavor but there is something special about holding a 500 year old piece of printed paper. At the book fair June 26-28 2026

Wood type specimens from the 19th century are exceptionally rare. Here are a few from the 20th and 21st century which are still pretty scarce. They will be available June 26-28 at the book fair. (These photos are just some of what will be available for sale!)
