🎓 Celebrating Our 2026 SYEP Graduates!

As many of the youth and young adults who successfully completed The Training Source’s 2026 Summer Youth Enrichment Program (SYEP) transition back to high school, college, or work, we’re taking a moment to proudly celebrate their accomplishments this summer!

36 youth and young adults ages 16–24 completed six weeks of hybrid job readiness training through our Summer of Success and Administrative Support Career JumpStart cohorts.

🏆 97% earned the AHLEI Guest Service Professional Certificate, averaging 91% on the exam!

🎤 Graduates also put their communication skills into practice by delivering a 60-second professional introduction, preparing them to confidently answer “Tell me about yourself” when networking and connecting with employers.

We were honored to celebrate with Maryland Delegate Derrick Coley, who encouraged graduates to continue pursuing their goals, and grateful to our Prince George’s County Office of Human Resources Management SYEP Administrators for their partnership and support.

As our Executive Director, Nekeisia Booyer, shared with graduates, this summer was more than a job readiness program—it was an opportunity to build skills, discover possibilities, develop their voice, and begin turning experience into opportunity.

At The Training Source, workforce development is about people.

It’s about helping someone discover a new career path, develop skills that open doors, gain the confidence to take the next step, and connect with opportunities that can change what’s possible for their future.

Throughout September, we’re proud to celebrate the workforce professionals, employers, community partners, and organizations working every day to strengthen our workforce and our communities.

🌟 TTS Staff Spotlight: Meet Nicholas Howard!

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Nicholas Howard, Office & Operations Assistant at The Training Source!

A Prince George’s County native, Nicholas joined TTS in April and supports everything from day-to-day office operations and programs to events, participant support, data, and reporting. He enjoys the variety of his role and knowing that the work he does behind the scenes ultimately supports the people we serve.

Growth and resilience have been constants throughout Nicholas’ journey. After navigating some unexpected career changes, he’s proud to have continued moving forward, learning new skills, and finding his way into workforce development.

Outside of TTS, Nicholas enjoys trying new restaurants, traveling, watching sports, and thinking about future goals and business ideas. He’s a huge basketball fan 🏀 with a particular interest in the business and career side of sports, including the possibilities of bringing sports and workforce development together. And when he needs a getaway, Charlotte, NC, where he once lived, still feels like a second home.

His motto sums him up pretty well:

“Keep moving forward. You don’t always have to know exactly where you’re going, but you should always be learning and taking the next step.”

Nicholas hopes the people he encounters see him as approachable, helpful, and someone who genuinely wants to see others succeed. We’re happy to have that energy as part of the TTS team. 💙
