This memory from a year ago hits a little differently today. The Crofton Bike Doctor has since closed, and it’s a sad reminder that we can’t take our local businesses for granted.
“Use it or lose it” sounds blunt, but it’s worth remembering when deciding where to shop. If we want neighborhood stores to be there when we need advice, service, or a helping hand, we need to support them while they’re here—not just miss them after they’re gone.
As the holiday season approaches, the big corporations will be competing hard for your dollars. Before clicking “Buy,” please consider whether a local independent business could help you instead.
You don’t have to make every purchase locally, but choosing a small business when you can matters. Let’s support the places we’d hate to lose. ❤️
