A call can sound like someone you know and still be a scam. AI tools can imitate voices, so be cautious if a caller claims there’s an emergency and asks you to send money right away. Hang up and call your loved one using a number you already have. A family code word can help, too—but independently checking the story is the most important step.

Costumes, pumpkin carving, and fall family photos are all picture perfect moments worth preserving. Before those memories live only on your phone, check that your photo backup is turned on and has finished uploading. Make sure there’s enough storage, and try opening a recent photo from another device. For extra protection, keep a separate copy of the photos you’d hate to lose.

Try a favorite fall photo as your phone or computer wallpaper—colorful leaves, a pumpkin patch, or a view from your own backyard. It’s a small change you’ll see every day. What’s on your screen right now: family, pets, scenery, or the default background?

Selling something online? A buyer’s “payment sent” screenshot isn’t proof that money reached you. Open your payment app or bank account yourself and confirm the transaction before handing over the item. Be suspicious if someone says you need to pay a fee to receive your money, or sends too much and asks you to refund the difference.

This family comedy stars record-breaking comedian Nate Bargatze in his first feature film. In theaters in May, it follows the misadventures of Nate Wilcox, whose wife Katie (Mandy Moore) lands a once-in-a-lifetime deal on Shark Tank that takes her on a prolonged business trip. Now the lifelong breadwinner has to fend for his family as a stay-at-home dad. Nate finds out quickly that running the household is the toughest gig he's ever had. Try turning on closed captions in your streaming app. Many services also let you adjust the text size, color, or background to make it easier to read. Look under accessibility or subtitle settings. Are captions always on at your house, or only when the dialogue gets quiet?

You don’t need a fancy camera to capture a little fall color. Wipe your phone’s lens, look for soft morning or late-afternoon light, and tap the screen where you want it to focus. A bright leaf, a front-porch pumpkin, or a favorite walking trail can make a great photo. What’s your favorite sign of fall?

Set a calendar reminder a couple of days before renewal so you can decide whether it’s worth keeping. A trial should help you try something—not surprise you with a charge.
