There was a recent blog post ( http://www.newscyclesolutions.com/whats-the-difference-between-983-and-12/ ) on NewsCycle's site that took a pretty big shot at the WordPress platform. In all fairness, Peter March, the author and Vice President of Marketing said the article would have an "obvious bias" toward Drupal 8.
However, favoring something and misleading people are two very different things.
His central point that WordPress has 983 vulnerabilities vs Drupal's 12 is very misleading. That 983 number factors in plugins which WordPress doesn't produce. Plugins for the most part should be viewed as aftermarket products for your car. Suggesting that a car makers vehicle value is tied to the aftermarket products that are produced for it is absurd. If you look at the Core WordPress product only, there are ZERO vulnerabilities on the list for the current versions.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think WordPress is a silver bullet and would and do recommend Drupal when the project requirements justify it.
The final bit of irony here, News Cycle's corporate website and the platform that Peter's post was made on was (drum roll) WordPress. This point alone is a very telling example of why WordPress is a such a great product. It also takes a little wind of of his sails and does make one chuckle a bit.
Next time he holds a press event to explain why Ford is such a terrible vehicle and everyone should really buy a Porsche, he probably shouldn't drive a Ford to the press conference.
