Tech Tip!

Don’t Ignore Your Updates!

Those update notifications can be easy to put off, but keeping Windows and your programs up to date is an important part of keeping your computer running properly.

Updates can help:

🔹 Improve security
🔹 Fix bugs and glitches
🔹 Improve stability and performance
🔹 Keep programs working properly
🔹 Protect against newly discovered security threats

Empire Computer Tip: Install important updates regularly, and restart your computer afterward when prompted so the updates can finish properly.

Need help with updates, cleanup, or computer maintenance? Stop by Empire Computer at 30 Main Street in Sidney or call 607-563-9000.

💻 Tech Tip!

A cluttered computer desktop might seem harmless, but keeping it organized can make your computer easier to use—and make important files much easier to find.

Instead of saving everything to your desktop:

🔹 Move documents and photos into organized folders.
🔹 Delete files and shortcuts you no longer need.
🔹 Empty your Recycle Bin occasionally.
🔹 Clean out your Downloads folder—it can fill up quickly!
🔹 Back up important files so they’re not stored in only one place.

💡 Remember a little digital housekeeping every now and then can save a lot of frustration later.

Need help cleaning up or optimizing your computer? Empire Computer can help!

💻 Empire Computer TECH TIP: When Was the Last Time You Restarted Your Computer?

It sounds simple, but regularly restarting your computer can make a noticeable difference! If you tend to leave your computer running for days or even weeks, a quick restart can help keep things running smoothly.

Restarting your computer can:

🔹 Improve Performance – Clears temporary data and frees up system resources that may be slowing things down.
🔹 Complete Updates – Many Windows and software updates require a restart to finish installing.
🔹 Fix Small Problems – Freezing, sluggish programs, strange glitches, and other minor issues can often be resolved with a restart.
🔹 Improve Security – Restarting helps complete important security updates and clears certain background processes.
🔹 Give Your System a Fresh Start – A regular restart can help prevent small issues from turning into bigger headaches.

💡Try restarting your computer at least once every few days, especially if you notice it starting to feel sluggish. And remember, Restart is often better than simply shutting down and turning the computer back on because Windows can handle the two differently.

Still running slow after a restart? We can help!

🇺🇸 We Will Never Forget — September 11, 2001

Today, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the incredible courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who stepped forward in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We remember the lives that were taken too soon.
We remember the families whose lives were forever changed.
We remember the heroes who ran toward danger to help others.
And we remember the unity, strength, and compassion that brought our nation together.

Twenty-five years later, their memory lives on.

Never Forgotten. Always Remembered. 🇺🇸
