Greetings! As you may have already heard rumour, OmegaCon has tentatively confirmed dates with The Lodge for OmegaCon Fall 2021!!
Everyone CELEBRATE!

Ok. Now calm back down and bear with us while we work out all the details.

The world has changed, and while we're not sure what a post-pandemic OmegaCon will look like, if all goes well, we will be together in Siren again the weekend of Nov. 12-14. This is legitimately all the information we have for you right now.

Staff will be meeting in the next few weeks, and official announcements will be out soon via email, here, and Twitter with full details, safety information, and when you can begin to register if you did not back before the world closed.

If you pre-registered for Fall 2020, you are still registered for Fall 2021, unless you asked for a refund. If you had a Golden Ticket for Fall 2000 and were pre-registered for Fall 2021, your Golden Ticket is still valid, unless you asked for a refund on your registration.

Since this plan is still tentative and in the works, please hold questions about your specific situation until we've released all the details.

OmegaSpring 2021 Announcement

It is a new year and we’d hoped for the possibility of hosting OmegaCon Spring (April 23-25) this year. With sadness we announce that we are canceling OmegaSpring 2021. We do not make this decision lightly and appreciate your flexibility and understanding. While we miss seeing all of you and long for the days when we can once again relax together in Siren, we must place the utmost importance on the health and safety of our attendees, volunteers, and the staff at the Lodge and other Siren businesses. Even with more people having access to COVID-19 vaccines each week and looser restrictions set forth by the Governor, we do not feel it would be responsible to host OmegaSpring 2021.

Registration status
For those who were already registered for OmegaCon Spring 2021 our default action will be to push their registration to OmegaSpring 2022. No action is needed on their part if this is OK with them. However, if they would like to discuss other options, they may contact us at info at omegacon dot org.

Golden Tickets
Golden Tickets are not impacted by this cancelation. For those with Golden Tickets for OmegaSpring, OmegaCon has informed the Lodge of our decision and their room reservation has been canceled. Their OmegaSpring 2021 registration will automatically be pushed to OmegaSpring 2022 & they will maintain their hotel room & Golden Ticket.

Other reservations, appointments, etc.
If you have booked a hotel room elsewhere and are no longer traveling to Siren, please make sure you cancel your arrangements. Please make sure you also cancel any other reservations connected to our time at OmegaCon, such as dinner plans, appointments at the salon, etc.

Alternative ways to connect
We encourage attendees to explore options for online gaming as a stand-in for our beloved OmegaCon. This is a great place to post invitations and make plans.

A message to OmegaCon attendees regarding COVID-19

5 October (published in email 18 September 2020)

As you're all aware by now, COVID-19 continues to evolve and impact many, if not all, aspects of our lives. We have been keeping an eye on the pandemic, which includes keeping tabs on the latest information and recommendations from organizati2 Oons like the CDC and the MN Department of Health.

OmegaCon falls under the umbrella of community-based organizations (CBOs). The CDC updated considerations for CBOs on August 5, 2020. In following their guiding principles, OmegaCon falls under the Highest risk category:
Standard operations and programming are resumed. Large in-person gatherings are held where it is difficult for individuals to remain spaced at least 6 feet apart. Food is served “potluck” or family style. Many event attendees come from outside the local geographic area.

Furthermore, the MN Department of Health released Guidance for Safe Celebrations and Events on September 3, 2020. The requirements and recommended modifications are beyond what our small volunteer-run event has the capacity to put together in two months. Additionally, the extent to which we would need to modify OmegaCon to remain in compliance would severely alter our beloved event.

With this information and the health and safety of our attendees, volunteers, and the staff at the Lodge and other Siren businesses in mind, the OmegaCon staff has made the decision to cancel OmegaCon Fall 2020 (November 13-15, 2020).

All of us look forward to OmegaCon every year. While we are disappointed to have to make this call, we feel it would be highly irresponsible to hold OmegaCon, even with modifcations. We recognize the importance of each of us doing our part to help the larger community and protect those who are most vulnerable.

IF you are registered for OmegaCon Fall 2020.

Our default action will be to push your registration to OmegaFall 2021. No action is needed on your part if this is OK with you. However, if you would like to discuss other options, you may contact us at info at omegacon dot org.

P.S. While OmegaCon Fall 2020 is officially canceled the Lodge is holding our room block for the next week. If you decide you would like to stay at the Lodge the weekend of November 13-15 please contact the Lodge directly to reserve a room, even if you are a Golden Ticket holder. Again, please note that OmegaFall 2020 is canceled and there will not be any of the usual functions or amenities you're used to when visiting the Lodge as part of OmegaCon.

It's Spring! Finally. It's almost time for Pat to let me out so that I can supervise the fun in Siren this year.

Walks outside by the lake, and putt putt, and friends and ALL THE GAMES! Keep me out of the hot-tub though, I might melt. See everyone in just over a month.
