Some people call themselves clockmakers without formal training. I was apprenticed at my brother in laws clock and watch repair shop in Mishawaka. He was a professionally trained clock and watch maker learning at Elgin College for this trade. He taught me most everything I know.
I see each of these beautiful clocks as being alive when they run. The ticking is a heartbeat. It can be a tragedy when one of these are severely damaged or die of neglect. When I can I breath life back into them. As you may see in my FB page here I take great pride in this work and these are merely a fraction of the work I've done over the years.
Money has less to do with this then anything. If I don't take care of them then who will?
Its a labor of love, and Its a dying trade for sure.
