People ask why I started Pacific Automation.
I work a full time job that starts before sunrise. I have a son. I am building this business in the hours most people are still asleep or already checked out for the day.
The reason is simple. I watched too many small business owners in this region doing great work and losing jobs they already earned because a call went unanswered or a lead went cold waiting on a follow up that never came.
That is not a sales problem. That is a systems problem. And it is fixable.
I am not interested in being another agency selling software nobody understands. I am interested in making sure the guy who shows up and does honest work does not lose the job to someone who just answered the phone faster.
That is the whole mission. Spokane Valley and North Idaho contractors deserve systems that work as hard as they do.

I work a 4am shift. Five kids at home. Baby due in January.
Every hour that isn't spoken for belongs to this business.
I'm not telling you that for sympathy. I'm telling you because when I talk to a contractor in Spokane Valley who's missing calls while he's under a crawl space, I actually understand what it's like to build something in the margins of your day.
That's why I started Pacific Automation. Not because I had a perfect setup or extra capital or unlimited time. Because I saw a real problem that local trade businesses were losing money to every single day and I knew I could fix it.
The Inland Northwest deserves better than out of state vendors selling cookie cutter software nobody understands. You deserve someone local who actually gives a damn.
That's what I'm building here.

The busiest contractors aren't always the best ones.
They're just the ones who answer first.
A homeowner with a burst pipe at 9pm isn't loyal. They're desperate. They're not scrolling through Google reviews comparing your 4.8 to someone else's 4.6. They're calling the first number they find, and if you don't answer, they're calling the next one before your voicemail even finishes.
Same thing happens with roofing estimates, HVAC tune-ups, electrical quotes. The follow-up window is shorter than most owners think. Studies show 78% of customers go with the first business that responds. Not the cheapest. Not the most experienced. The fastest.
The shops winning right now in Spokane Valley aren't necessarily bigger or better funded. They just have systems running while they're out on the job — catching the calls, texting back the missed ones, following up on the estimates that went cold.
That's not luck. That's infrastructure.

I've been building Pacific Automation behind the scenes for the past few months — sending DMs on lunch breaks, building systems at 2am, figuring it out one day at a time while working full time and raising a family.
I decided to start documenting it.
The first video is up on YouTube now. No polish, no script, no studio. Just a guy in a parking lot talking about what he's building and why.

Something I noticed doing research across Spokane Valley and North Idaho this week:
The trade businesses with the most Google reviews aren't always the oldest or the most established. Some of the shops I'm seeing ranked at the top of local searches have been open 3 or 4 years and have 200+ reviews.
Meanwhile there are contractors who've been serving this area for 15, 20, even 30 years sitting at 18 reviews.
The difference isn't the quality of their work. It's whether they have a system that asks.
A plumber who's been in Post Falls for 25 years has hundreds of satisfied customers who would leave a review in a heartbeat if someone just texted them a direct link two hours after the job wrapped up.
That's not a marketing gimmick. That's just making sure your real reputation shows up where people are actually looking.
The Valley has a lot of great tradespeople who are invisible online. That's the problem worth solving.

Here's something most trade business owners don't realize until it's too late:
Your Google review count isn't just a vanity metric. It's directly tied to how many calls you get every month.
Google's local ranking algorithm heavily weighs review count and recency. A shop with 15 reviews from two years ago is going to lose search visibility to a competitor with 60 reviews and three from last week — even if your work is better.
The homeowner searching "HVAC repair Spokane Valley" right now isn't going to dig through your website to figure out you're the better option. They're going to call whoever shows up first with the most recent social proof.
The good news: this is one of the most fixable problems in the trades. Most shops already have dozens of happy customers who would leave a review in a heartbeat — they just never got asked at the right moment.
Asking two hours after a completed job, when the experience is still fresh, gets a response rate most business owners don't believe until they see it.

Most trade businesses in Spokane Valley aren't losing jobs because of bad work.
They're losing them because the phone rang at 6:47pm while the owner was finishing up a job in Mead — and by the time anyone called back, that homeowner had already booked someone else.
It's not a marketing problem. It's not a reputation problem.
It's a response problem.
The contractor who texts back within 60 seconds wins the job almost every time — not because they're better, not because they're cheaper, but because they were first.
Most of the shops I talk to around here already have more inbound interest than they realize. The leads are coming. They're just slipping through the cracks while the owner is doing what he does best — the actual work.
That's the problem worth fixing.

I grew up in Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls. Spent years watching family and friends run trade businesses across the Inland Northwest — plumbers, electricians, HVAC guys, contractors.
One thing never changed: the best ones were always the busiest, and the busiest ones were always the hardest to reach.
That's not a coincidence. It's the cost of being good at your job.
I started Pacific Automation because I wanted to fix that specific problem for businesses right here in Spokane Valley and across North Idaho — not some generic solution built for a national franchise, but something built by someone who actually knows this area.
If your business is buried in work and your phone is the bottleneck, that's exactly who I built this for.

There's a number most contractors in the Valley have never calculated.
Take your customer list from the last two years. Count them. Most shops your size have 100 to 300 names sitting in a filing cabinet or an old invoice folder.
Now here's the number: when a business sends one friendly check-in text to that list — not a promotion, just "hey, we're scheduling maintenance season, need anything?" — somewhere between 5 and 10 percent reply.
That's 10 to 30 conversations. From people who already know you, already trust you, and already paid you once.
Most of those turn into booked work within the week.
No ads. No lead buying. No new marketing budget. Just money sitting in a drawer waiting for someone to open it.
The shops that do this once a season stay booked. The ones that don't keep wondering why the phone goes quiet.
