Many of our clients & friends are back in their homes tonight. Some are only beginning to process that their homes are gone. Everywhere we turn we see grief and hope side by side. A man searching through rubble, holding back the sobs as he looks for something precious left behind. A vast sea of tents where firefighters sleep before fighting another day. Hundreds of ordinary people who've become helpers and doers, offering meals, clothing, a warm bed, or a shoulder to cry upon. It's dark and smokey outside, which reflects how we are all feeling. But on the other side of the devastation there is an incredible light in the form of all of you. We ❤️ you Spokane.
How are you? It’s hard to believe it’s been more than a week since the Spokane Area Fires changed so many lives across our community.
For so many families, this Monday looks nothing like they imagined a week ago. Some are grieving. Some are displaced. Some are trying to figure out what comes next after losing the place they called home.
And for all of us, it’s been a heavy week.
But as I look around Spokane, I’m also reminded of something powerful: **we don’t have to carry the weight of this alone.**
Neighbors are helping neighbors. Strangers are showing up for people they’ve never met. Churches, nonprofits, businesses, first responders and countless volunteers are stepping in to help.
If you’re hurting today, I hope you know this: **you are not forgotten. You are not alone. And there are people standing with you.**
And if you’re in a position to help someone else, even in a small way, maybe today is the day to do it.
One week later, there is still a long road ahead. But we’ll walk it together.
Spokane, keep showing up for one another.
