In the past three years we've seen employees quitting their jobs in large numbers. The pandemic was a catalyst for employees to seek out more meaning and value in their work and examine whether they are creating outcomes that are of value to others. A recent Gartner article referred to this as "The Great Reflection".
In 2023 employers should focus on building shared meaning and connection with employees as it relates to the company's mission and values. When employees feel like their own values and goals are aligned with those of the organization, they are more likely to feel motivated, committed, and engaged. This engagement, in turn, leads to higher levels of job satisfaction and better employee retention.
