JustusedTech Repurposing old gadgets to reduce e-waste|Donating to underserved communities

05/08/2026

At the 3rd Annual Recyclers Conference organized by the Recyclers Association of Nigeria (RAN), one message stood out clearly:

Waste is not waste, it is stored value.

As an organization committed to sustainability, digital inclusion, and responsible technology use, Just Used Tech was proud to participate in conversations shaping the future of recycling and circular economy systems in Nigeria.

With the theme:
“Smart Recycling Frontiers: Integrating Technology, Intelligence, and Innovation for a Greener Planet,” the conference brought together policymakers, industry leaders, environmental advocates, and innovators to explore how technology can transform waste management and recycling systems.

From conversations around automation and intelligent waste systems to discussions on circular economy opportunities and the growing need for stronger waste management structures, the event reinforced something we strongly believe:

Technology and sustainability must work hand in hand.

The conference also created opportunities for strategic engagement with key government and industry stakeholders on the future of e-waste, partnerships, climate action, and digital inclusion in Nigeria.

At Just Used Tech, we remain committed to:
Reducing e-waste
Promoting a circular economy
Expanding digital access
Giving devices a second life and people a better opportunity at theirs

We believe the future of sustainability will require collaboration, innovation, and intentional action across sectors.

This is bigger than recycling.
It is about building systems that create environmental impact, economic opportunity, and a more sustainable future for all.

The conversations have started.
Now, the work continues.

To everyone who followed us this month. thank you!

To everyone who shared a post, thank you!

To everyone who commented, saved, or just quietly watched what we’re doing, thank you!

You showed us that this story was worth telling properly.

The conversations we’ve started this month, the partnerships in progress, the students who have devices they didn’t have before, none of that happened without you.

We’re heading into MAY with more devices to refurbish, more students to reach, and a lot more story to tell.

Drop a ❤ if you’re riding with us into MAY.

Happy Earth Day 🌍

Here’s how JUSTUSEDTECH celebrates it.

We refurbish laptops that would otherwise become e-waste, toxic, harmful, and landfill-bound and we put them in the hands of students who need them.

One refurbished laptop prevents up to 300kg of CO₂ from entering the atmosphere. It diverts hazardous materials from informal disposal chains. And it gives a student the tools to build a future on their own terms.

The most sustainable device is the one that already exists.

This Earth Day, we’re asking a simple question: what happens to your old tech?

If the answer is ‘it’s sitting in a drawer’ or ‘we sent it to storage’ — Contact us.
It could be someone’s most important tool.

Every share reaches someone with a device they’re not using.

She's been editing videos for years, on just her phone.

The talent was never the question. The tools were.

Immaculata had the skill, the drive, and the vision to grow her craft. She wanted to learn DaVinci Resolve, take on bigger projects, and build something real. But without a laptop, every next step came with a wall in front of it.

That wall is gone.
Through a partnership between Justused Tech and Ken, Immaculata now has a laptop and with it, a runway.

Her words say it best:
"This is such a lift of burden for me… thank you is not even enough."

This is what digital inclusion looks like in practice. Not a statistic. Not a policy paper. A young woman, a device, and a future that just got a lot more possible.

We believe that pre-owned technology, thoughtfully placed in the right hands, is one of the most direct paths to opportunity.

Every device we deploy is a bet on someone's potential.
Immaculata is proof that the bet pays off.

If your organization has devices sitting idle, or if you're looking to partner with us to create more stories like this one, we'd love to connect.

For many communities, access to technology is defined by a single moment: when a device is donated, a platform is launched, or a connection is switched on. In that instant, the gap appears to close.

But the reality is far more complex.

A person may gain access to a device, but lack the digital literacy to use it meaningfully. A community may be connected to the internet, but face content barriers, language gaps, or economic pressures that make sustained engagement impossible. And for many, the distance between owning a tool and benefiting from it is shaped by forces that go far beyond hardware, from infrastructure limitations and cultural context to the absence of locally relevant solutions.

Real digital inclusion requires three things to work together: the ability to reach technology, the capacity to use it, and the conditions to benefit from it. When one breaks down, the promise of connection goes unrealized, even if the systems suggest otherwise.

At JustUsedTech, we believe that pre-owned technology, thoughtfully refurbished and strategically deployed, is one of the most scalable tools for closing this gap. Our work sits at the intersection of circular economy principles and global development, giving devices a second life while creating first-time opportunities for the people who receive them.

Over the coming years, we are committed to scaling technology access across underserved communities globally, not just by increasing the number of devices in circulation, but by ensuring the people who receive them are supported to use them, grow with them, and thrive because of them.

Because access is not a moment. It is a journey.
