The DOE has updated its Home Energy Rebate programs, and the changes could have a direct impact on HVAC contractors.

One of the biggest updates is that rebate funds generally can no longer be used for gas-to-electric equipment conversions under the HEEHR program. At the same time, revised guidance may help move long-delayed rebate funding closer to homeowners in many states.

Whether you support electrification initiatives or prefer a technology-neutral approach, these programs can influence:

• Equipment recommendations
• Sales conversations
• Financing discussions
• Consumer demand
• Marketing strategies
• Long-term business planning

As incentive programs continue to evolve, contractors may want to stay informed about how these changes could affect both homeowners and HVAC businesses.

Have rebate programs changed the way you discuss equipment options with customers?

Happy Father's Day to the Dads Who Keep America Cool! 👨🔧❄️

Today we're celebrating all the fathers who spend long days in attics, crawlspaces, rooftops, and mechanical rooms making sure families stay comfortable.

A special thank you to the HVAC dads who answer after-hours calls, work through the summer heat, and still make time for their families when they get home.

Your hard work keeps homes cool, businesses running, and families comfortable every day.

From all of us at P3 HVAC Software, we wish you a Happy Father's Day and thank you for everything you do — both on the job and at home.

One conversation with an HVAC contractor recently really stuck with me.

They told me:

"We were surprised how many customers signed up once we started offering service agreements on every call."

What's interesting is they didn't launch a new marketing campaign.

They didn't spend more on advertising.

They simply committed to discussing service agreements with every eligible customer on every call.

For years, they assumed many homeowners weren't interested.

What they discovered was that many customers had never actually been asked.

That got me thinking...

How many opportunities do we miss because we assume we already know the answer?

Sometimes growth doesn't come from doing something new.

Sometimes it comes from consistently doing the things we already know we should be doing.

P3 helps make those conversations easier with membership visibility, CSR call scripts, technician tools, and integrated phone systems that keep customer conversations connected from the first call to the completed service visit.

Google may be changing the way homeowners shop for HVAC services.

Consumers can now research pricing, compare contractors, request quotes, and gather information before ever making a phone call.

The goal is simple: faster answers and less friction.

As a result, many homeowners seem to be asking questions earlier in the process:

• How much will this cost?
• Do you offer financing?
• Is it worth repairing or replacing?
• What should I expect to spend?

HVAC pricing isn't always simple, but customer expectations are changing.

The contractors who figure out how to educate customers early—without overpromising—may have an advantage moving forward.

What are you seeing?

WHERE DOES REVENUE LEAK?

Most HVAC companies don't lose revenue because of one major mistake.

They lose it through small gaps that happen every day.

A missed call.

A repair that wasn't offered.

An invoice that wasn't collected.

A customer who was never asked for a review.

A service agreement that wasn't discussed.

A follow-up that never happened.

Individually, these may seem small.

Over time, they can have a significant impact on growth, profitability, and customer retention.

The strongest HVAC companies don't just focus on generating more leads.

They focus on reducing the leaks throughout the customer journey.

Where do you think the biggest revenue leak exists in most HVAC companies today?👇

A contractor recently told me they won't take a project that falls below a 20% net profit margin.

Whether you agree with that number or not, one thing stood out.

They knew their numbers.

Not just revenue.

Not just sales.

They knew exactly what it cost to run their business and what profit they needed to remain healthy long-term.

That got me thinking...

A lot of HVAC companies are busy.

But busy doesn't always mean profitable.

How many contractors know their true net profit before they sell the job?

WHERE DOES REVENUE COME FROM?

Most HVAC companies think revenue comes from more calls.

Successful HVAC companies know revenue comes from better processes.

Every customer interaction creates an opportunity.

The companies that consistently grow are the ones that have repeatable workflows in place from start to finish.

When your processes are consistent, your results become more predictable.

The strongest HVAC companies don't rely on luck.

They rely on workflows.

What workflow has had the biggest impact on your business? 👇

A lot of people in the HVAC industry are talking about the recent refrigerant regulation news and asking:

• Is R-454B going away?
• Is R-410A coming back?
• What does this mean for HVAC companies and homeowners?

The reality is a little more complicated than the headlines and social media videos.

While there are discussions around rolling back or delaying certain refrigerant regulations, the industry has already invested heavily into A2L refrigerants like R-454B and R-32. Most manufacturers have already shifted equipment development in that direction.

For now:
• R-410A systems will still be serviceable for years
• A2L training is still important
• Contractors should continue following manufacturer guidance
• Homeowners should not panic about replacing equipment

There is still a lot of uncertainty around timelines, regulations, pricing, and future refrigerant standards, and the HVAC industry will likely continue evolving over the next several years.

Here are a few resources covering the topic:
