Good morning. I would like to take a moment to make a few announcements concerning some service changes Kennedy PC Repair will be undergoing in 2025. Additionally, I want to inform you of a significant technological change in 2025 that may affect a good portion of my clientele.
First and most importantly, I want to thank all my clients for a successful 2024. As always, it is my humble pleasure to be able to serve you. Your sustained patronage has allowed Kennedy PC Repair to flourish over the last eighteen years. For that, I am grateful.
Secondly, after careful consideration and data analysis, my service rates will increase slightly beginning on January 1, 2025. As with most things in our economy, the cost of goods and services continues to become more expensive. Kennedy PC Repair has been able to creatively side-step rate increases for the last several years. However, to provide the best customer service support possible, I must modestly increase my prices to cover costs. New rates will be posted on my website in the coming days. (https://kennedypcrepair.com/services-and-rates/)
Thirdly, I now have multiple avenues to receive payment. Payment is now accepted via cash, check, PayPal, or Venmo. Kennedy PC Repair will provide clients with PayPal and Venmo payment criteria if that method is chosen. NOTE: A three percent (3%) service fee for PayPal or Venmo payments will be assessed to cover transaction charges. If the client agrees to send the payment to Kennedy PC Repair as a "family or friend," the three percent (3%) fee will be waived.
Finally, on October 14, 2025, Microsoft will end support of the Windows 10 operating system. (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/end-of-support). What does this mean? Microsoft’s end of life and end of support are terms that refer to the end of technical support and security updates for Windows 10. Windows 10 launched in July of 2015. After 10 years, this older version of Windows will no longer receive free software updates from Windows Update, technical assistance, or security fixes. For consumers, end of support means that Microsoft recommends updating to the latest version of Windows for the latest critical updates and support that can keep you secure online.
Microsoft has stated that it will provide a Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program which will provide critical and security updates for a Windows 10 device for one year after the end-of-life date passes. Microsoft states the ESU program will be a one-time purchase of $30 for the one additional year of support, and enrollment will begin “sometime” in 2025.
If you are a Windows 10 user, I would recommend reading the official Microsoft frequently asked questions from their website. (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/end-of-support). The good news is that Windows 10 users do have time to make decisions before October 14, 2025. Most clientele will face two scenarios: upgrade to Windows 11 or purchase a newer computer capable of running Windows 11. To see if your computer meets Windows 11 requirements and can be upgraded, please visit Microsofts PC Heath Check app page at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/how-to-use-the-pc-health-check-app-9c8abd9b-03ba-4e67-81ef-36f37caa7844.
If Kennedy PC Repair can be of any assistance in answering any Windows 11, computer purchases, or other technical questions, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
