What opportunities is your state missing out on?

Over the last calendar year, PEC has connected with 33 of the 54 U.S. states, territories, and districts that make up the National Guard’s State Partnership Program. These connections have allowed us to meet with SPP directors and coordinators for virtual briefings, learn more about each state’s partnerships in depth, and support BAOs, directors, and other SPP personnel in language training classes.

We are honored to engage with those that we’ve met, but we want to ensure that all 54 State Partnership Programs are supporting their international partnerships equally. PEC’s Guard Language Program is the first and only fully virtual language school specifically designed to support members of the National Guard, allowing individual states to directly fund courses for personnel who have language training needs.

States participating in the Guard Language Program find better connections, stronger partnerships, and a fuller understanding of their international partners.

As a Bilateral Affairs Officer(BAO), you’re at the forefront of the SPP’s state and foreign nation partnership. You know how key language training is. You’ve tried to do language training before and run into the same roadblocks:

Language strengthens partnerships.

For over 30 years, the DoD has strategically partnered each U.S. state, territory, and D.C. with foreign partner nations around the world. National Guard members affiliated with their state’s State Partnership Program (SPP) work with delegates from their state’s partner nation(s) to conduct military-to-military engagements, humanitarian activities, and security cooperation in support of U.S. foreign policy goals.

The Guard Language Program was designed with SPP participants at the forefront. PEC’s curriculum seamlessly integrates regional expertise and cultural education into all language courses, giving service members a leg up when preparing for immersion into their partner nations, participating in training exercises with foreign militaries, and hosting partner delegates.

What’s “the best kept secret in the National Guard?”

The Guard Language Program, according to our students.

With over two decades of providing virtual language training to agencies across the DoD, PEC is uniquely capable of merging technology and human-first language learning. In partnership with the NGB, PEC piloted the Guard Language Program in 2019, and it was centrally funded in 2020. This PEC School is the first and only fully virtual language school specifically designed to support members of the National Guard.
The NGB now allows individual states to directly fund courses for personnel who have language training needs. This direct funding option provides leadership with increased control and oversight and allows for full customization to tailor training to meet exact state requirements and unique student needs.
