🎉 Recap: Kahoot Trivia Night
On Tuesday, March 10, we hosted a fun Kahoot Trivia Night with trivia across Movies, Geography, Technology, Pop Culture, and topics students suggested during the event. Students joined in throughout the hour as we ran multiple short rounds, making it easy for anyone to jump in and play.

🎁 We gave out tons of merch from our professional chapter. Beyond the games, it was great to see students from many different majors, including both computing and non-computing fields, connecting and enjoying the relaxed, social atmosphere. We really love bringing people from all over campus together to hang out, because making new connections is such a big part of the college experience.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the event. We are already looking forward to the next one! ⭐

🎓✨ Graduation Spotlight: Anzhelika Kurnikova, Zarina Zatildayeva & Duong (Eric) Mai ✨🎓
This semester, IEEE‑CS proudly celebrates three of our graduating leaders:

Anzhelika Kurnikova, our President; Zarina Zatildayeva, our Treasurer; & Duong (Eric) Mai, our Social Media Chair.

😺 Anzhelika Kurnikova helped lead IEEE‑CS through one of its biggest years of growth. As a Computer Science major with a Mathematics minor, she supported workshops & outreach, boosting attendance & attracting new members. From creating reels, bringing people together to energizing every hangout, she brought spirit to every moment. She played a key role in organizing TechX Florida 2025, an event with over 350+ attendees from 500+ registrations across 9 educational institutions, 40% of whom were professionals. We wish her the best in her incoming Software Engineer role at Google & in all her future endeavors.

🧬 Zarina Zatildayeva kept the chapter running smoothly throughout the semester. She handled every Publix order, tracked our funds, & made sure we always had enough to keep hosting events. Always ready to help, whether that meant fixing our banner when it broke or running off to find a chair or anything else the chapter needed. As a Biomedical Sciences major, she showed our members that you do not need to be CS to belong here. She’ll be heading to Kazakhstan to prepare for her master’s applications in Germany. We wish her the best as she takes this next step in her journey.

📸 Duong (Eric) Mai played a key role in shaping IEEE‑CS’s presence this year. From flyers to recaps, he boosted attendance by making every event easy to find & consistently posting across campus. His photos captured each moment with care, leaving a lasting mark on the chapter. Though graduating this summer, his impact deserves a spotlight. As a Computer Science major with a Mathematics minor, he’ll continue his studies at Vanderbilt University, & we wish him the best as he begins this next chapter.

💛 We extend our gratitude to Anzhelika, Zarina, & Eric for everything they have done for the chapter. Your work, energy, & dedication helped grow IEEE‑CS. Everyone here in the chapter will miss you deeply.

✨ Docker Workshop Recap ✨
On February 26, we hosted a beginner‑friendly session that broke down how developers ship real applications using Docker. The goal was to help students understand what Docker is, how it works, and why millions of developers rely on it every month.

🐳 Students got a clear walkthrough of containers and real‑world deployment using GitHub CI/CD, guided by Caio Bahlis, CS & Math Junior, Honors IT Developer. The session highlighted how modern teams use Docker to build, test, and ship software efficiently.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the event. ⭐

✨ PC Building Workshop Recap ✨
On February 19, we hosted a hands‑on hardware session that helped students understand how to make smart decisions when choosing parts for their own PC builds. The goal was to break down the key factors to consider when comparing components and how to match parts to your budget and performance goals.

🖥️ Students got a clear walkthrough of RAM speeds, power supplies, cooling options, CPUs, GPUs, and motherboards, guided by Boburjon Usmonov, Graduate Computer Science Student. The session was beginner‑friendly, interactive, and shared tips and websites that make planning a PC build much easier.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the event. ⭐

🐈Recap: CAD & 3D Printing Workshop

To wrap up the 2025-26 semester, IEEE-CS hosted its final event – a hands-on CAD & 3D Printing Workshop that drew 80 students eager to turn creativity into design. The workshop highlighted how the campus 3D printers can be used to model and print custom projects, starting with everyone’s favorite theme: cats.

⚡ Led by Tech Lead Nadia Korostyleva (M.S. & B.S. Biomedical Engineering), attendees learned the fundamentals of SolidWorks and other CAD platforms through a guided, step-by-step walkthrough. Students from all majors followed along on their laptops and left with their own 3D models ready for printing right here on campus.

🎮 To end the night, participants joined a lively Kahoot challenge reviewing CAD concepts and workshop highlights. The top three winners took home 3D-printed cats from Minecraft!

Thank you to Tech Lead Nadia Korostyleva and everyone who joined us for this final event of 2025-26. The workshop was a fun, collaborative send-off to a year of innovation, design, and hands-on learning.

On April 17, students toured Embarc Collective, the startup hub ranked 1 in North America by UBI Global, and saw up close where founders, teams, and mentors drive innovation across Tampa’s growing tech scene.

🎤 The visit began with an introduction to Embarc’s mission and its partnership with USF. Students learned how this connection is creating new pathways for internships, project work, and full‑time roles in the startup community. The group also heard from a founder who shared what day‑to‑day life looks like as an entrepreneur and what it takes to build something from the ground up.

💼 Throughout the tour, students explored the building, discovered programs that support early‑stage companies, and gained insight into the resources that help founders grow.

Thank you to Embarc Collective for hosting us, supporting student involvement in Tampa’s tech and entrepreneurship ecosystem!

✨ Engineering Council Banquet Recap ✨
We had the pleasure of attending the 2026 E‑Council Engineering Banquet, which highlighted just how far our chapter has come this year. Our chapter walked away with three awards: “Highest Community Impact”, “Best Social Media Engagement”, and the “Photograph Award”, a huge recognition of the work our members put in throughout the year. In fact, that was the highest number of awards a single student organization could have received that night!

None of this would have been possible without the support of our community. Thank you to everyone who comes to our events, to everyone who voted for us, and to our 2025-2026 E‑Board members for constantly showing up and pushing our chapter forward!
