πŸ’‘A key fundamental mindset to being successful online is understanding that what was effective yesterday, may no longer be effective today and what is effective today, may no longer be effective tomorrow.

A good way to avoid finding your-self in a position where your business is now years behind the competition is by simply checking in on your online presence on a quarterly basis. Seems simple enough, however if your reading this, you'd be surprised by how many businesses (small and big) are not doing this. Whether its an agency, employee or yourself, you'll want to frequently analyze your strengths AND weaknesses. With the goal of incrementally strengthening your online presence over time. To give you an idea of the type of questions you can be asking:

- Where are our customers primarily finding us online, can we double down?
- Are we spending money in areas that are not generating results?

In addition, you'll want to do a bit of forward thinking to anticipate any upcoming changes that might impact your business (both positive and negative). Some examples of this are:

- Are there any upcoming changes with Google or other Major platforms that might change the way our business is viewed or found online?
- Does the increasing availability of A.I bring any potential opportunities for our business online?

Although the questions you should be or can be asking will vary greatly from business to business. The general idea is to ask questions to better understand where your business is currently situated online and how you can continue improving to ensure you're forging a path for online success.

Small changes overtime = big resultsπŸ’ͺ

πŸ‘‹πŸ» Before diving into an ad campaign, its imperative you take a moment to identify the primary objective of your ad campaign. Here are some popular objectives to help you get started:

- Building an Audience (Viewers to your web pages, and social media platforms)
- Generating Leads (Web, Phone and Chat)
- Generating more online sales
- Generating more physical traffic to your business location.

If your new to this, your first thought might be to say all of the above. However its important to at least initially, focus on a single objective (as your priority) so that you can ensure you are maximizing your budget AND promoting on the right platforms. Depending on your business, products and services, some platforms will be better suited for your objectives than others.

πŸ€” Do you feel like you need to step-up your online marketing for your business? Here are 5 basic steps every business with a physical location should and can take before doing anything else online (even before creating a website).

1. Claim Your Google My Business Listing: As part of Googles effort to provide its users with relevant and useful information. Google offers businesses with a physical location a place to list their business on Google Maps for free. After you’ve created or claimed your GMB Profile, you’ll want to make sure your profile is complete with the best pictures and information possible.

2. Sync your GMB Listing with Bing Places: Save your-self the hassle of creating and managing multiple profiles. Grab additional visitors from Bing by syncing your GMB listing with Bing Places.

3. Claim Your Yelp Business Page: Run a quick search on Yelp to see if your business already has a Yelp page. If yes, claim it and update with all of the best information like you did with GMB. If there is no Yelp page, leave this alone for now. Yelp is not good for every business and there is no point in creating extra work for yourself unless its going to bring value to your business.

4. Inventory Your Social Media: Go through all major social media platforms Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin and Youtube and check to see if your business has any pages you don’t have access to. Similar to yelp, not every social media platform is going to be good for your business. Remove whats un-necessary and keep only what you can frequently post to and maintain.

5. Check For Accuracy: Head back to Google/Bing and run some searches for you business. What comes up? Is it accurate? If no, get to work on ensuring the sources are corrected. If accurate, great. However the work is not done. Make a habit of checking at least monthly to ensure all information, photos..ect are remain accurate across all platforms.

πŸ™Œ Phew! That’s it. Granted, these are just some basics, there is much more you should and can do. Now one step closer to maximizing your online opportunities for your business.

Everything about your website should be centered around how easy your website is to use, because well... the easier your website is to use, the more people will use it. This is especially important if you are wanting to leverage your website to reduce the amount of time you or your employees are spending handling certain tasks (processing orders, answering basic questions..ect)

So how do you make your website more intuitive?.

Think about what your visitors are wanting to accomplish while on your website (making a call, buying a product, paying a bill, getting a quote..ect). Then, think about how you can make that process as simple and thoughtless as possible (from any device, from any point on your website). An essential part of β€œeasy to use” is intuitiveness. Meaning, when a website user sees it, they know exactly what to do. As long as your website visitors can complete the tasks they want without interruption or thought, your on the right track to higher conversions and better performing website.

Whether its generating sales, generating leads, providing useful information or all of the above. When building the foundation of your web presence (your web site). The center of your build should always revolve around the user experience. How?

First identify your intended audience to ensure your content and media relate to your audience. Then, once you're confident your media and content are relatable to your audience. Second, create a layout that will allow your visitors to make purchases, contact your business, find useful information on your website as quickly and painless as possible. There are obviously levels of optimization to this, however it all starts with the right mind-set of being more intuitive and engaging with your website vs treating your website like a billboard.

Do this, and you'll be one step closer to having a successful web presence.
