For those that know me, they know I don't usually go into politics and such, but with everything going on, I feel a need to speak my mind, so please bear with me. Some of what I say will be my personal opinion, while the rest will be quotes or excerpts, which can be found at websites that I will provide.
In light of the recent disastrous storms, the peoples' focus should be on those impacted by the storms first, and then the politics, right? I mean, we have famous country artists like Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, and Dolly Parton that are donating, in one way or another, for the betterment of those heavily impacted by these storms. To quote Dolly, "These are my people and this is my home,” Parton told a crowd in Newport, Tennessee. “I am with you because I am part of you.” I found that quote at this site https://kfgo.com/2024/10/09/taylor-swift-keith-urban-other-stars-support-us-hurricane-relief/ Now, this is something that many of us wish we could do, or should, but have we heard of any President or other member of our government, current or past, doing the same as these artists? Shouldn't they, as OUR LEADERS, be our examples of how to behave, instead of squabbling like children over who gets to be elected next?
Speaking of who gets to be elected next, how many of you that vote remember anything about the Electoral College, or how it's supposed to work? We select people that, in turn, cast their vote for us, the people, right? The reason for this is, as OUR representative, they would cast the vote free from any undo party influence, and I quote "Thus without corrupting the body of the people, the immediate agents in the election will at least enter upon the task free from any sinister bias." This can be found here https://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/fed68.asp So why is it that, from what I've heard for years now, the sayings like "The elections are rigged, so why bother voting?", or "My vote doesn't really count, because I'm not in the majority party.", are the ones I hear the most? If we want to do something about it, then WE, THE PEOPLE, need to remember that we are the ones that put these people into power, and if we don't like it, then WE have the power to vote them out of office! I'm not calling for guns, riots, or anything like that; I'm calling for peace, and using our RIGHTS, as defined in the CONSTITUTION, to get those that are in those offices, milking US dry as their purses and pockets get lined more and more, OUT! For those that are in those offices and actually trying to do their jobs FOR US, let's keep them there and make sure that they are heard!
A perfect example is what I've been seeing a lot of on YouTube, and that's Sen. Hawley going after many different people, exposing lies and shady crap that many others have been either turning a blind eye to or been complicit in! I won't say that I have all of the facts, but the fact that he has the (pardon the language) BALLS to stand up to these people and call them on their BS puts him head and shoulders above the rest, to me, from what I have seen so far. I will continue to look into it, as any good investigation should have the facts from all sides, and not just one source, at that.
Sorry for the rant, but I had to get it out; feel free to comment, but know that I might not respond immediately, if at all, because I don't often get on here. Please, however, look into the facts and sites and see for yourself if I'm wrong. Republic and democracy, by the definitions of the words themselves, aren't that different; it's the political parties themselves that are, as well as their priorities, and that's what WE have the power to change.
THE mode of appointment of the Chief Magistrate of the United States is almost the only part of the system, of any consequence, which has escaped without severe censure, or which has received the slightest mark of approbation from its opponents. The most plausible of these, who has appeared in print...
