Custom Geekery is officially a member of the Greater Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce again!

One of the things I’ve always loved most about working with local businesses is that the work goes far beyond websites, Facebook ads, and marketing. Small businesses are part of the communities we serve, and I think we have a responsibility to show up for those communities when we can.

That’s also why Custom Geekery is proud to sponsor the Wyalusing Valley Museum this year. Preserving the stories of the people and places that built our communities matters.

Thank you to the Greater Wyalusing Chamber for the incredibly kind welcome back. We are looking forward to being more involved, making connections, and supporting the work happening in and around Wyalusing. ❤️

Digital Marketing, Online Presence, and all things getting seen?
Our friends at Custom Geekery know JUST how to help you grow!
We're thrilled to have them back again as a valued member of the Greater Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce.

Need more of a reason to love this amazing crew??? How about their giving hearts! Be sure to watch for them every time we feature Wyalusing Valley Museum as they have sponsored this fabulous community non-profit for the year!

And that's exactly what we love about some of what we do with the Chamber! Connecting businesses, organizations, and community members to build relationships that help our community grow!
You can join the Chamber too OR sponsor a non-profit! See the forms here: https://www.wyalusing.net/join-the-chamber

And then he doubled down;
he said, "I stand by it."

"You started this conversation .... and now you have this amazing thing .... The remaining work is only two steps ... both are better done by someone who slept."

So that's how this Friday will end....
with my computer telling me to go away.

And you know what? I'm okay with it!

I have thought enough for this week about this particular thing, and it's time to go recharge my batteries because my brain feels like it might explode.

And the rest will be finished better when I can think more clearly.

Wishing you all a great weekend.

Oh, and in case your computer didn't tell you ... move away from the screen now and go enjoy your weekend!

Running a business on a Monday looks a little different.

Some days you're creating content.
Some days you're answering customer messages.
Some days you're planning your next big idea.

And some days...

You're Chico.

Show up.
Say hi.
Then decide you're over it because well...it's Monday.

Happy Monday from us at Custom Geekery to you! May your coffee be strong, your marketing work, and your Monday fly by. ☕✨

"What do you actually do?"

Today's answer...

Before lunch I:

💻 Updated two websites.
🛠 Diagnosed an online ordering issue.
😬 While investigating an issue, broke a website...
💾 Restored it from backup.
📊 Reviewed Facebook ad performance for multiple accounts.
📈 Created client reports.
🎯 Installed Meta Pixels.
📱 Created social media posts.

Had a snack (Pictured: Greek yogurt, blueberries, pumpkin seeds, pistachios... and a few moments of peace. 😄)

No two days ever look the same. The truth is, there isn't a simple answer.

Because marketing isn't just posting on Facebook.

It's websites.
It's analytics.
It's troubleshooting.
It's advertising.
It's strategy.

It's solving whatever problem is standing between a business and its next customer.

That's what I love about what we do at Custom Geekery. We solve the digital marketing problems so our clients can focus on running their businesses.

As a marketer, it's not lost on me that there's a lot of debate about AI.

Should we use it?
Should we avoid it?
Is it helping us... or hurting us?

I've had quite a few people ask where I stand, and where they should stand, especially when it comes to marketing with AI-generated content. Here's my answer.

I believe AI should be used responsibly.

AI is a tool. Like every powerful tool we've ever created, whether it helps or harms depends on the people using it.

I also believe something unexpected is happening.

As AI becomes more widely used, genuine human connection becomes even more valuable.

People don't just want information anymore.
They want authenticity.
Perspective.
Personality.
Trust.

Ironically, that's exactly why I use AI.

Not to replace my voice.

To help protect it.

I've been working with AI for nearly three years now, and one of the most surprising things it does isn't writing content or making images.

It's reflecting me back to me.

Sometimes it challenges my thinking.
Sometimes it points out patterns I hadn't noticed.
Sometimes it says something so funny or insightful that it causes me to stop and think about an issue in a new way.

So I've decided I'm going to start sharing some of these conversations.

Not because AI is always right. In fact, I often correct any AI that I am working with (and you should too).

But because self-awareness and multi-perspective thinking make us better.

Better leaders.
Better marketers.
Better parents.
Better friends.

Technology doesn't determine who we become.

Our willingness to learn about ourselves and continue to grow does.

So the pic is what G said this week, that is my favorite so far.

That one made me laugh...
..because it also made me think.

Uh-oh… I just got called out by name in this video. 😂

Today’s Coffee & Marketing homework assignment apparently was:

👉 “Go film a completely unhinged pizza snack review immediately after class.”

And honestly?
Mission accomplished. 😂

I would like the record to show that I did NOT specifically instruct anyone to conduct an emergency snack taste test at their desk while simultaneously battling a surprise tech uprising…

…but I did tell everyone to stop overthinking content and just hit record.

So technically…
this is my fault. 🤷‍♀️😂

The best part?
THIS is the kind of content people actually remember.

Not perfect.
Not polished.
Just human.

Also, now I apparently need to try the pepperoni pizza snack at Wyalusing Family Chiropractic because this review was extremely convincing. 🍕

One day back in 2022, I sat down and made a dream list of local businesses I would love to work with someday.

At the very top of my list was Shores Sisters- Cafe, Farm Market, Greenhouse, Bakery

The very next day, Renee called me about building a website.

To this day, the timing of that still feels a little unbelievable to me.

And honestly, I’m so grateful it happened.

Watching Shores Sisters grow over the last few years has been incredible. What started as a local farm market has become a destination people travel for… and now they’ve been recognized nationally as the SBA’s Rural Small Business of the Year.

They recently returned from Washington, DC after accepting their award and I don’t think I can fully explain how proud I am to have had even a small role in their story.

But what makes this even more special to me is this:

This is the kind of win I want for ALL local small businesses.

Not necessarily awards.
But growth.
Visibility.
Community support.
People walking through the door.
The feeling of seeing years of hard work finally recognized.

Shores Sisters didn’t become successful because they magically “went viral.”

They showed up.
Over and over again.
They let people SEE them.
Their faces.
Their story.
Their personality.
Their greenhouse.
Their coffee.
Their chaos.
Their growth.
Their heart.

And people connected with it.

It has been such an honor to help amplify that story online.

Congratulations to the entire Shores Sisters team. You deserve every bit of this ❤️
