A sunny and warm Memorial Day weekend is just what I needed 💙☁️🇺🇸

If you’re in the TC area this weekend, be sure to stop by in Elk Rapids today! They’re open until 3 and might just be the most amazingly curated shop in all of Northern Michigan for home decor and small gifts 🪞🛋️

You didn’t start your business just for it blend in to a sea of beige, it was meant for more 🌈

You started this business with magic and hope in your heart and believed you could bring something different to the table.

So why gravitate toward the same watered-down versions of Canva brands and Showit templates the internet keeps trying to convince you you need?

Color is where I start with every client to differentiate them in their respective industries 🎨

It’s not about asking you your favorite color or what you think looks “aesthetic.” It’s getting down to the details of how your brand ✨feels✨

Your brand is allowed to be girly, bold, soft, whimsical, grounded, calm, or whatever feels like home to you.

What it’s not allowed to be? So bland and full of sameness that it doesn’t stop your dream client mid-scroll.

(video inspired by the cutest reel from 🌈!!)

One thing about me? I always knew my career was going to be creative.

My first “real” job might have been at the local pizza joint, but before that? I was making enough money selling custom hand painted shoes and backpacks to pay for a trip to Europe.

Come college, I was ready to climb the corporate internal art department ladder until this pandemic, as you might recall, threw in wrench in my plans to forever design torch packaging (jk but that is a thing I did, peep slide 5!!)

Post grad, I ended up working as a designer for a furniture manufacturer and had the most toxic relationship with design I’ve ever had until I called it quits, up and moved to Northern Michigan, and decided to create my own career instead.

And now? I get to wake up every day and create magic for people like you!! 🧚‍♀️

And I wouldn’t have it any other way 🤭✨

There is truly so much magic happening on my screen as of late and it’s kept me from showing up here the way I originally intended for the month!!

Super aligned projects and clients are the best reason for that though, especially when a brand as gorgeous as this one for gets approved with only the slightest color palette tweaks ✨

File delivery is currently in progress for Tara, but in the meantime, let’s share all the love with her 🤎

Hi, it’s me! The gal behind all things magical and wonderful at KBD.

Swipe through for some fun little tidbits about me and the things I get up to when I’m not sitting at my designing beautiful things for you 🖥️🧚‍♀️

“Whimsical” isn’t just a word I used to describe my style to my clients. It’s how I live my life 🌷🦢

Just ask my husband or any of my friends — if there’s something pretty like sunlight shining on our appetizers at our favorite local farm to table restaurant or tulips starting to bloom one by one on a walk to pick up Playa Bowls (my new obsession btw), you best bet I’m going to comment on it and stop to take a pic 📷

Scroll through and let me know what we have in common!! If you can’t tell by slide 8, I’m always down for making new internet pals 💕

What my brain sounds like when my clients fall in love with their brands again 😌💕

Because there is truly no better feeling than watching someone see their brand for the first time and completely light up. Like yes girl, THAT is you. THAT is your business. THAT is what you’ve been trying to say this whole time 🥹✨

Good, strategic design takes everything you’ve been feeling and turns it into something people can actually see and feel too. And when the magic comes together? Oh, you know we are CELEBRATING 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️

This past month I’ve been been working on updating my portfolio and asking clients for glimpses of their brand in their camera rolls and I have so much goodness to share 🤭

First up? A brand that’s in REAL physical actual books, on kindles, at markets getting compliments every weekend, and tattooed on the client’s wrist?! Rebecca’s brand is literally magic 📖🪄

and I worked together a couple years ago to create a brand and website experience for her books and let’s just say, it’s one of my favorites to date 💕

I’ve been slowly getting through her books (I promise I’m almost through the Nat 20 series, I’m just a busy girl!!) but I’ve been LOVING how easy they are to read and how easily it is to feel close to every character 🤍📖

Not to mention they take place in Charleston, one of my favorite cities where I even got to meet Rebecca in person a while back 🤭💕 (swipe for evidence!!)

We’re now booking magic for July with a few slots open for mini brands for the right type of client, so if you’re wanting compliments on your brand and website every time someone comes across it… now’s the time to reach out 💕💕💕

Guest Glimmers Edition 07 is here!

✨A magical corner of the KBD blog where creative friends I trust share their insights, stories, and strategies that spark. ✨

This week’s guest is Lindsay of 📃

Lindsay is a trademark attorney who helps creative entrepreneurs protect their brand names, logos, and slogans before they invest in design work that could be built on shaky legal ground. Her approach is refreshingly clear, rooted in legal expertise, but always focused on empowering business owners to move forward with confidence.

In her Guest Glimmer’s post, she’s chatting about why trademark registration should come BEFORE brand design, and how to ensure your name is truly yours before you invest thousands of dollars bringing it to life.

👉🏻 If you’ve ever wondered whether your brand name is actually available, or if you’re about to invest in a rebrand and want to do it right this time, this one’s for you.

Read the full post on the KBD blog (link in bio!) and give Lindsay a follow at for more trademark wisdom that protects your brand.

Recent magic made in the studio for my girl ☕️🤎🌿🪩

Maddi was dreaming of a brand that felt aligned to her style as a photographer and aesthetic girly, and when we first chatted and she heard me rambling with my vision for her brand direction “like a tasteful garden monochrome wedding on a late spring day when it just rained and the sun is peaking out..” (real quote btw)…

In that moment, I could literally SEE the magic in her eyes ✨

I’m just so so grateful to have had a part in this chapter of Maddi’s story!!
