I painted in the mountains ⛰️ Welcome to Creede, CO, a charming former mining town in south central Colorado. A small town attracting tourists (and apparently lots of Okies) to its cool weather, rich history, gorgeous mountains and Rio Grande River views. This Main Street needed a pop of color and CABIN + GIFT was kind enough to gift this artwork to the town and invite me all the way up to help make it happen. Thank you so much for your trust, Miranda and John! I hope you enjoy it for years to come!
While there, I learned so much about the town’s history, saw mining structures that defy time and gravity, and met SO many sweet locals and tourists. We also got to know the town of South Fork, where we stayed and will likely come back to over the years. The thirty minute commute to ‘work’ guided us along incredible views and the Rio Grande each day. I couldn’t stop thinking about the cowboys, miners, and entrepreneurs who traveled these mountains to help build these communities.
