PRESCHOOL TEACHER (2-4 YEAR OLDS)

LOCATION: 2490 N. WALNUT ROAD, TURLOCK CA. 95382
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• AA/AS degree in Early Childhood Education or Family Studies, BS degree in ECE preferable
• Minimum 6 units in Supervision or Administration in Early Childhood Education Program or related field
• Must have at least 6 units in Infant/Toddler Child Development (if working with infants/toddlers)
• Must have at least a Child Development Teacher Permit or higher
• Have at least 15 hours training in Child Health and Safety class or 1 semester class of Child Health and Safety Class
• CPR & 1st Aid Certified with an EMSA endorsement
SALARY RANGE: $15.00-$21.00/hour plus benefits. Commensurate to education and experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:
• Responsible to perform daily health checks as children arrive at the facility.
• Must maintain confidentiality.
• Write age appropriate Lesson Plans/Activity Plans.
• Designs, plans and implements daily lesson plan programming for children, including children with disabilities based on each child’s assessed developmental needs.
• When assigned, designated teacher will be responsible to administer prescribed medication when applicable.
• Must work respectfully, cooperatively and effectively with staff, visitors, parents, other agency representatives and families.
• Must be consistently supportive of the company and enforce its policies.
• Functions as an appropriate positive role model.
• Supervises and evaluates assigned classroom assistants.
• Assists in recruiting eligible children
• Maintains and submits all records, reports and other documentation in a timely manner in meeting deadlines.
• Must assist center supervisor in implementing program policies in areas required to ensure program compliance.
• Must have consistent and regular attendance.
• Must demonstrate ability in working well with others.
• Integrates areas of the program.
• Prepare and maintain classroom records and reports required for individual child, class, and program compliance.
• Maintains adult/child ratio in the classrooms.
• Involves parents and community volunteers in the activities of center and supervises their volunteer efforts.
• Operates all equipment in a safe manner.
• Provides in-service training for assistants, parents, and volunteers.
• Assists and documents transition activities from home to center, classroom to classroom, and from the center to kindergarten.
• Participates in the training program of the company.
• Other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a preschool teacher.
• Experience in infant/toddler care of at least one (1) year preferred.
Education Requirements:
• BA/BS degree in Child Development or related field required.
• Minimum six (6) semester units in Early Childhood Education
• Minimum three (3) units in Infant/Toddler Development.
• Child Development Teacher Permit.
• CPR and Pediatric 1st Aid Certification required.
• Sixteen (16) hours of training in preventative health practices and nutrition or 1 semester of Child Health and Nutrition which include CPR and 1st aid certification
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit at a desk, conference table or in meeting rooms of various configurations for varying amounts of time.
• Ability to see, read and distinguish colors, with or without vision aids, instructional materials, rules and policies and other printed materials.
• Ability to speak in audible tones so that other may understand clearly in normal conversations.
• Ability to walk on uneven terrain, play yards and school grounds.
• Physical agility to lift and carry from 10-40 pounds; and to bend, stoop walk, reach overhead, and stand as many as four hours per day.
• Physical agility to push/pull, squat, twist, and turn.
• Ability to drive with valid state of California driver’s license and insurance required for privately owned automobiles.
• TB clearance every four (4) years.
