Scammers search public property records for land, rental houses, and vacation homes the owner does not check on often, then pose as the owner to a real estate agent and rush a cash sale before anyone notices.

Card skimmers are built to look exactly like the real card reader, but a few quick checks can catch them every time.

🚩 Give the card reader a gentle wiggle before you insert your card. A real one is locked in tight.
🚩 Compare it to the pump next to you. Mismatched colors or textures are a red flag.
🚩 Look for a security seal sticker. If it is torn or missing, do not use that pump.
🚩 Check around the keypad for anything that looks added on, like a tiny camera.
🚩 Cover the keypad with your free hand every time you type your PIN, just in case.
