The 39-second teaser trailer shown for Pokémon: Wild Card during the ceremony highlighted the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Mimikyu, and the protagonist at a table with a Mimikyu card played.

Pokémon: Wild Card's animation will be done by CloverWorks (My Dess-up Darling, Bocchi the Rock!), directed by Katsuhiko Kitada, produced by Story inc., and character designs by Akemi Hayashi. The movie teaser said it's set to release "starting in 2027" and "beyond," hinting something more could be coming with the movie.

Pokémon Worlds wraps up today in San Francisco. Yu-Gi-Oh! Worlds is wrapping up in Tokyo the same weekend. Two different games. Two different countries. Everybody’s watching somebody play cards.

That’s fun. Watch it. Cheer. I’m not going to pretend I’m too cool for that.

What I’m not going to do is act like your binder went up in value because a card showed up on a stream.

It didn’t.

Your cards are still your cards. What condition they’re in. Whether the set is complete. Whether they lived in a closet that gets hot. Same thing I said about those NES games. A big weekend does not grade your collection for you.

So watch the finals if you want. Then go look at what you actually have. Not what the comments think you have.

If you’re in Racine and you pulled a box out because this weekend got you thinking… come hang at 410 Main. We’ll look. We’ll talk. We’re the hangout. Not a hype machine.

A shop in Waukesha sat on a box of Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt NES games for years. The owner figured they were $10 to $15 to restock. Packed-in games. Nothing fancy.

Then somebody actually looked at the back of the cart. 1993 print. Different board. Not the version sitting in most people’s closets.

A few got graded a 10 and went to auction. The internet made it sound like a million-dollar basement. The honest version: last check, that PSA 10 was sitting around $1,500, the auction is still open through September 9, and a normal loose copy of the same game is still about ten bucks.

That’s the lesson.

Most of what is in grandpa’s closet is still a $10 game. Print, condition, and whether it is actually sealed are what change the number. Heat and a basement box will wreck a cart the same way they wreck a cart.
