Africa should not simply consume the next wave of AI. We should help shape how it is built, deployed and governed.
That is why this conversation matters to me.
As AI becomes more deeply embedded in banking, healthcare, education, government and business, the discussion cannot stop at innovation and adoption. We also have to ask who is accountable, what risks we are willing to accept, and how we protect people when automated decisions go wrong.
These are some of the questions I explore in Beyond Breach. The book looks beyond cybersecurity incidents alone and into the wider issues of governance, risk, accountability and the responsibility leaders carry as technology moves faster.
Africa has an opportunity to build with its own realities in mind, but that requires strong governance alongside innovation.
The question is not only, “How fast can we adopt AI?”
It is also, “How well are we governing what we adopt?”
Artificial Intelligence is the next big shift, and Africa must help shape it rather than simply adopt it... - Dr. Johnson Asiama (Governor, Bank of Ghana)
