Have you been annoyed with the Windows 8 Metro look. It might be nice on a tablet but on a PC you might want the Windows Desktop to be your main screen. Here is a small program that does just that. It will give you back the Start key and will startup on your desktop screen and not on the Metro/Block screen.

Start Menu 8 brings back Start Menu to Windows 8, and allows users to skip Metro start page and boot to Windows 8 desktop directly.

Seriously? A good password should include these characters. What this company made me do was create a password from numbers and letters. Don't get me wrong, you can still create a great password with numbers or letters. However including some of the odd characters can make it so much harder to 'guess' your password.

Microsoft released a fix for the Internet Explorer vulnerability. You can get it here. This has been in the news. A vulnerability discovered last Friday could give a person access to your computer. Of course practice common sense, stay off sites that offer free stuff, videos, downloads etc. You know the drill :)

McAfee recently released their Q1 2012 threat report, which exposes an increase in malware across all platforms. The report shows that in Q1, PC malware reached its highest levels in four years, as well as a steep increase in malware targeting the Android platform. Mac malware was also on the rise, indicating that total malware could reach the 100 million mark within the year.

I won't hold it against you if you just believe me when I say that we are needing to step up in our efforts to keep machines clean. So stay away from free coupons, the greatest free games, offers that sound too good to be true, etc.

It happens that an anti-virus program does not catch a virus and your system gets infected. There is always a lag between the release and discovery of the virus and the time the AV companies can create an antidote.

Now if your PC or laptop seems sluggish or you are getting popups or your computer leads its own life and web sites you didn't ask for pop up it might be time to call me and get your system checked.
