Dancing Dots Braille Music Technology, L.P., was founded in 1992 to develop and adapt music technology for the blind. In 1997, Dancing Dots released its first product, the GOODFEEL® Braille Music Translator. Bill McCann, Dancing Dots’ president and founder, sees GOODFEEL® as the first in a series of high-tech tools to harness the power of the personal computer for creative people with disabilities

. McCann himself is a blind musician and programmer who has successfully competed for federal and state contracts to advance this work. In addition to selling GOODFEEL®, and the LIME LIGHTER, music-reading solution for low vision performers, the company is an authorized distributor for a wide range of assistive technology and music products.

Our Story

Dancing Dots Braille Music Technology, L.P., was founded in 1992 to develop and adapt music technology for the blind. In 1997 the company released the world’s first Braille Music Translator software, GOODFEEL®, now in use by sighted and blind educators, performers, and professional musicians in over 50 countries.

By 2002, Dancing Dots added a “talking score” feature to GOODFEEL called Lime Aloud. The latest version, GOODFEEL 4.0 released in 2018, supports Unified English Braille and vastly improves the import of scores in the Music XML format.

Another major innovation from Dancing Dots is The LIME LIGHTER which gives access to the Low Vision music reader at home, in the classroom, and on the stage. See more about The LIME LIGHTER in this one minute video:
