Tama Press letterpress and relief printed paper products, handmade books, custom work and more! Welcome to Tama Press and thank you so much for visiting!

I love making things by hand - I've done it since I was a little kid (my parents have the videos to prove it!) I especially enjoy creating things people will use on a day to day basis, such as note cards and books. While studying in college, I was introduced to the worlds of printmaking and book arts. The organized process of printmaking – from designing and hand carving blocks to proofing and pri

nting the final pieces – is a challenging and fulfilling experience for me. Patience and my fervent attention to detail attracted me to printing. Time, effort, and care put into each print are reflected in the uncompromising quality of this hands-on art form. In addition to linoleum block relief printing, I also enjoy letterpress printing! I'm thrilled with the quality and beauty of this type of printing - the impression of a letterpress printed image gives depth and a luxurious feel to the finished pieces. While e-mail and e-books are extremely convenient, I still love the writing in a journal and receiving hand written letters in the mail. I learned to make books from start to finish - cutting book board, choosing book cloth and decorative paper, sewing pages, and attaching covers. I maintain a strong connection to my love of Japan through my handmade books, many of which have a traditional Japanese binding. The Japanese ceramic artist I studied under focused on the beauty of a perfectly crafted, yet useful object. I strive to demonstrate that an object used every day, such as a book, can be elevated to a higher level of beauty and appreciation through the experienced touch of an artist.

This little guy became a part of our family a few weeks ago - part of the reason I’ve been so busy. His name is Marvin (like the Martian) and he’s been a joy/terror 😂

He’s only about 7 months old so still lots of puppy energy. He’s learning his position in our pack and is already besties with our other brindle Yoshi. Marvy is a super cuddly pup too!

On Friday, after a couple failed attempts at errands and a mental reset at the lovely DEMURE COFFEE - I took my minions thrift store shopping. And it was fun!

We found an LL Cool J cassette tape for one kiddo to try out in a Walkman he got in a second grade. Pretty rad.

I also found a jar of type with a few ornament pieces! So I sorted it out and attempted to handset some type - which I haven’t done in years. I didn’t have all the spacing I needed so it printed a bit wonky, but still fun to try out. I’ve missed printing.

We are starting some house projects to make it feel more like home - and we wanted an in wall trash can! My husband built the slide out and I drew a little of I originally considered a trash symbol but I couldn’t resist drawing Oscar in color.

Lots of things have been happening recently.

Since some of my projects are top secret and can’t be shared yet, here’s my latest ink by at - I LOVE how this came out.

• colorful koi 🎏
• kawaii whale shark 🐳🦈
• Japanese finger waves 🇯🇵 🌊
• ALL the colors!! 🌈🎨

Such a positive and fun experience. Time to start planning the rest of the inevitable sleeve 😂🤣
