🚩 RED FLAG FRIDAY

A client received this voicemail today!

The caller claimed to be with a “verification department” and said there was an issue with keywords attached to a Google Business Profile. According to the message, if the problem wasn't fixed, the business could become ineligible to show up in Google searches.

Then came the urgency.

Call us back before the end of today.

This is exactly the kind of fear based tactic business owners need to watch for.

A random caller telling you there's suddenly a problem with your Google listing doesn't mean there actually is one. Don't give someone access to your profile, provide account information, or pay to “fix” something simply because a voicemail made it sound urgent.

Check your Google Business Profile yourself. Look for actual notifications. If you work with someone who manages your Google presence, ask them to verify the issue.

And when someone tries to scare you into making a quick marketing decision?

That's a red flag. 🚩

Then invest in what actually helps your business grow.

Discoverability creates opportunities. Trust creates customers.
