P28 ECU + Cobra Emulator available

This is the P28 that was originally headed for the parts bin because of its rough history. It had previous trace repairs, pulled pads, capacitor leakage damage, and quite a bit of old work. Instead of scrapping it, I thought it would be a great opportunity for my 13 year old to learn the entire refurbishment process from start to finish.

And she did a great job. 😎 The ECU has been fully refurbished and bench tested, and everything is operating properly.

Included:
P28 OBD1 ECU
Used Cobra emulator
Transparent top lid
ECU & emulator fully tested
90-day warranty

The case was previously cut for a coil-on-plug module that is no longer installed. That opening has been covered with a small piece of carbon-fiber wrap. It's cosmetic only.

Important Cobra note: I have tested the emulator and confirmed operation, but I don't have the Cobra tuning software and have not verified or modified the tune currently stored on it. Software setup and tuning will be up to the buyer.

$465 for this unit

It's priced lower than my normal builds because of its prior repair history and cosmetic imperfections. Most of the money from this sale is also going directly to my daughter. She's already got plans for some new clothes and a pair of DC shoes. 😂

Pretty proud of how her first full ECU build turned out. Hopefully somebody can put it to good use!

Instead, they used various forms of bypass circuitry designed primarily to make the ECU operate with the original supervisor removed or failed. What is IC17?. IC17 is much more than a component that simply allows a Honda OBD1 ECU to turn on.

My 13-year-old’s first full ECU build! 🔧

It’s not quite finished yet, but we’re expecting to have it completed by Friday.

I’ve been teaching my daughter the value of hard work, and this time I decided to put an entire ECU in her hands and let her go through the process from start to finish.

This particular ECU was originally destined for the parts bin. It had some pretty rough prior work, including missing pads, a long trace repair, old capacitor leakage damage, and previous socketing for a chipped setup. None of it was beyond saving, though, so it made the perfect candidate for her first complete build.

She’s gotten to work through the whole process herself, including cleaning up the capacitor leakage and repairing the damage left behind. We may even finish it off with an Alpha EMU.

Because of the ECU’s previous condition and remaining cosmetic imperfections, this one will be offered for only $400 once completed. Despite the cosmetics, it will still go through the same testing standards I expect from anything leaving The ECU Guy and will include a 90-day warranty.

And hey... being The ECU Guy’s daughter, she’s already got more ECU experience at 13 than some of the competition. 😂

Discounted Refurbished Chipped OBD1 ECU – $400 + Shipping

I have a refurbished chipped OBD1 ECU available at a discounted price.

This ECU was previously built and came to me with some rough socketing work, which has since been properly repaired. The ECU is now functioning correctly with one exception: the factory VTEC output does not work due to a failed OKI chip output.

I originally planned to repair the VTEC circuit as well, but since this unit was already completed using my older-style electrolytic capacitor refurbishment, I’ve decided to offer it at a discount instead.

A few things to be clear about:

- Refurbished and chipped OBD1 ECU
- Includes an ECU case
- Factory VTEC output does NOT work
- An alternative external relay output can be used for VTEC if needed
- Does not include a chip or basemap unless purchased separately
- Everything else has been tested and is functioning as it should

Price: $400 + shipping
