As summer turns into back-to-school season, we can’t help but reflect with gratitude on a summer packed with IMPACT.

For nearly 25 years, The Training Playground (formerly known as ITEPS) has been committed to designing and delivering engaging youth development programs—20 of those years right here in Charles County, Maryland, from the launch of the original Jr. Chefs, Diamonds in the Rough + Boys 2 Gentlemen, to Girl, BE!, S.T.E.A.M. Tech Detectives, Creative Cuisine workshops, and more, for Charles County Parks & Recreation.

This summer, we:
✅ Hosted phenomenal interns (From rising seniors at La Plata + St. Charles High Schools to accomplished students from Chicago State University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and a Hampton University grad headed to Columbia University!)
✅ Partnered with BBPI Solutions + MakerSpace Offices Waldorf to launch The IMPACT Hub hosting four additional Summer Youth Employment (SYEP) interns.
✅ Delivered six weeks of professional development training for Charles County youth in the SYEP 2025 Cohort— where interns improved self-awareness, communication, and collaboration, and gained skills in time management, Microsoft Office, communication, budgeting, and even AI tools!

And it all ended with a scavenger treasure hunt that brought skills + fun together in the best way. 🏆

Today, we’re celebrating the accomplishments of every TTP + SYEP intern by sharing highlights from the Closing Ceremonies. To every student stepping into a new school year: you’ve got this. 🙌
