There’s a new retirement “match” coming in 2027. But employers aren’t the ones paying it.

The federal Saver’s Match begins with qualifying retirement contributions made in 2027, giving eligible workers the opportunity to receive up to $1,000 from the federal government toward retirement savings.

For HR and benefits teams, now is a good time to understand what’s coming.
→ Who can qualify?
→ How does the federal match work?
→ Do employer retirement plans have to accept it?
→ Does anything need to change in payroll?
→ What should employers be asking their plan providers now?

We broke down what employers need to know before 2027.

W-2 season looks a little different this year.

New reporting requirements are coming to the 2026 Form W-2, including:
→ Code TT for qualified overtime compensation
→ Code TP for cash tips reported to the employer
→ Code TA for certain employer contributions to Trump accounts
→ A new Box 14b for Treasury Tipped Occupation Codes

And that’s on top of the usual year-end work: employee information, taxable fringe benefits, third-party sick pay, payroll reconciliation and state and local taxes.

January is not the time to start figuring it all out.

We put together a 2026 W-2 Readiness Checklist to help employers get ahead before the final payroll of the year.

Federal contractor affirmative action requirements are changing.

But they aren't disappearing altogether.

New OFCCP final rules make significant changes to requirements under Executive Order 11246, Section 503 and VEVRAA, with key changes beginning to take effect September 21.

Among the updates:
💠 Executive Order 11246 regulations are being formally rescinded
💠The 7% disability utilization goal is being eliminated
💠 Section 503 disability self-identification requirements are changing
💠VEVRAA remains in effect
💠Federal contractors still have important obligations to understand

If your organization is a federal contractor, now is the time to determine what needs to change, and what needs to stay.

We break down the new rules, effective dates and next steps for employers.

Switching payroll and HR systems can feel like a big undertaking.

But the right implementation experience can make all the difference.

Recently, three different CTR customers shared feedback about working with one of our Implementation Project Managers:
💬 “Who knew payroll could be simple and not stressful?”
💬 “She made us very comfortable with the transition and confident we made the right choice.”
💬 “It made implementation smooth and enjoyable.”

Different customers. Same experience.

From implementation forward, our goal is to make the transition as smooth as possible and give our clients confidence that they made the right move.

“No Tax on Overtime” does not mean overtime pay is tax-free.

New IRS guidance is giving employers more clarity on what the overtime deduction actually means and what changes for payroll in 2026.

Among the updates:
• Qualified overtime must be reported separately on the 2026 W-2
• Employers still withhold taxes on overtime pay
• Not all overtime or premium pay qualifies
• New guidance expands the paid family and medical leave tax credit

We broke down what employers need to know and what to be preparing for now.
