After yesterday’s post, my son hit me with a great question:

“What’s the difference between a domain and a website?”

I told him it’s kind of like a phone number and a phone:

- The phone number is like your domain name (your .com).
- The phone is like the computer/server where your website lives.

When you dial a number, you always reach the same phone.
When someone types in your domain, they’re taken to the same website.

So…

- Can you have a domain without a website? Absolutely. You can “park” a domain until you’re ready to build.
- Can you have a website without a domain? Technically yes, but it’s like having a phone with no number—no one knows how to reach it.

A couple of years ago, we quietly launched our own domain registrar. We were buying so many domains through other companies (and hearing too many horror stories from clients who worked with GoDaddy) that we knew there had to be a better, simpler way.

At this moment, TikTok is shutting down for millions of users across America. The economic ramifications for individual creators is something we cannot ignore.
This is a great reminder that where you keep your business's information is incredibly important. Having a home base where you control the access and data is necessary. When you use other services (Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, etc.), you're at their mercy.
Our websites are built using open-source software and you retain ownership of your site and information. That means, that if you're unhappy with us, you can always move your content. If we were to shut down for any reason, your content is still safe.
We'd love to help protect your content and increase your marketing traffic.

Today is Small Business Saturday. Today we celebrate the many small businesses that make our communities better places to live.

When a community organization needs some financial help, it’s rarely the large corporations that step up. It’s the local, grassroots businesses ran by our neighbors that help those necessary organizations thrive.

Today, we say “thank you” to the small businesses whose names line the fences of local baseball fields, the backs of concert programs, the pages of our school yearbooks, the backs of fundraiser t-shirts, and whose products are generously donated to auctions or giveaways at our schools, benefits, and fundraisers.
