There are so many scams running all the time, As this article points out. So remember some rules: If you receive a random phone call about a “problem”, even if the caller ID looks correct-
NEVER NEVER talk to them. Hang up and find the REAL phone number for that bank or credit card. ALSO do not Google search the number, because scammers got their WRONG information to pop up first. Everything from Printer support, help getting into emails, fixing slow computers, removing constant pop ups, etc. Call someone local first.
If the caller is claiming that they can help you fix something on your computer, or if they want to get onto your computer, or they need to confirm or help with something like a medical charge or devise:
NEVER NEVER give them any info. All they want is a way to log in and rip you off.
If you get a random email or text:
NEVER NEVER click on any links. This can lead to downloading a virus to your phone or computer. AND:
NEVER NEVER text back or reply. This confirms that you email or phone number is legit and they will try harder.
If something pops up on your screen with all kinds of warnings or lies screaming at you to call now or the world will end, the police will show up, or your computer will be deleted:
NEVER NEVER believe pop ups. And:
NEVER NEVER call a number on the screen. Its a scare tactic designed to get you to contact them and they will rip you off.
Please remember- most random calls, texts, and emails are scams. Common scams include Tax problems, Computer issues, Medical fraud, and Bank or Online account issues.
For a business like me, also Loans, Google leads, cheaper ways to buy stock or software, and others. Scammers will EVEN call to tell me I’m being scammed! Really?
Please approach every call, text, or email as a lie and you will be more likely to be suspicious.
Be safe out there. Thank you for reading and sharing this.
