These are questions you must pose yourself, your friends, and family constantly in this fast-paced world.
I've committed to running a full marathon this coming January (two months away!), so I train daily to exceed my expectations.
I'm minding what I eat but I am also paying attention to my body's "warning signals" to slow down.
I mentally prepare to go the distance by keeping pace and not overdoing it.
I have been running more steady each day because of it.
In life, I challenge my daughters to friendly step competitions each day.
My wife and I walk to the bus stop (roughly a mile away) every morning to get our exercise in.
And then they walk on their own accord during the day to keep up with me.
Sometimes they won.
Sometimes we did.
And yet we never took it too seriously.
It was always in good fun.
And yet for so many, the challenge becomes putting one foot in front of the other to even take that one step to better themselves.
It's not a put-down to them. With family, friends, and workmates, my intention is to get people moving so they're not stuck in the daily ruts of "Work, Rest, Eat, Sleep, Repeat."
Just as in cybersecurity, life has so much more to offer when you have an endgame in mind, implement contingency plans for emergencies, and be proactive versus reactive to challenges you may encounter.
How are you pushing yourself beyond what's required of you to do and be better for yourself and others?
