Behind every Global Design Award is a conversation. Our GDA jury reviews each anonymously submitted project, bringing their own perspectives, expertise, and convictions to the evaluation process. Over six rounds of deliberation, they narrow the field to the projects that exemplify the highest standards of excellence in experiential design.

Selecting this year’s 31 award winners was no simple task. The process was filled with spirited discussions, compelling arguments, and second looks at projects that deserved another chance. Jurors challenged one another, championed exceptional work, and considered each project from multiple perspectives. And for Best of Show, our highest honor, the jury must reach a unanimous decision.

We’re taking you behind the scenes to see how thoughtful deliberation, diverse perspectives, and a shared commitment to design excellence shaped the selection of this year’s Global Design Awards winners.

The SEGD 2026 Conference in Kansas City just wrapped up, and the theme, “Meet Me in the Middle,” showed up throughout all three days.

At this year’s Global Design Awards Ceremony, something rare happened. One project won both the Best of Show Award, the Honor Award in Digital Experiences, and the Life-Centered Design Award.

To be named Best of Show, our jury reviews every submission through a rigorous and lively discussion that requires a complete consensus among jurors. Winning three awards is a rare and powerful testament to the impact of this project. We’re proud to kick off our weekly winners series by highlighting The Netherlands Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka!

Designed by Tellart (Tellart) with RAU Architects (RAU), DGMR (DGMR ingenieurs en adviseurs), and Asanuma, the pavilion invites visitors to explore how living below sea level has shaped a distinctly Dutch mindset rooted in common ground, long-term thinking, and respect for nature. Water, once an adversary, is now an ally in clean energy, climate adaptation, and sustainable living.

Every visitor received a glowing personal orb that activated water walls, a 360° AI-generated film, and a collaborative infinity mirror installation. Architecture, technology, and story worked as one across a four-phase journey. The structure was also built to last the six-month Expo and designed from day one for a second life afterward.

Juror 1 praised the pavilion for the human, warm feelings that come from holding the orbs, calling it “a remarkably fluid blend of so many disciplines into an unforgettable experience.”

Diadem’s (Diadem) wayfinding for the Australia Post Support Centre was one of the 2025 SEGD Merit Award and Sustainability Impact Recognition winners. The project gave Australia Post’s new Richmond, Melbourne office a design that actually feels like what the company it represents.

The whole system draws from the postal network itself. Diadem built a state-based postcode system that maps onto each of the building’s floors, then carried that same thinking into room names and numbers pulled from real Australian suburbs. Oversized packaging icons, conveyor-style floor markings, and warehouse-style ducting run through the space, giving every floor its own version of the same industrial, yet homely feel.

Before the Diadem came in, Australia Post moved out of a traditional headquarters in Melbourne’s C*D and into this Richmond building, bringing the company closer to its core logistics mission. Rather than call it a headquarters, they named it a “support centre,” and designed it with an open floor plan where even the CEO sits among employees instead of behind a closed office door.. Diadem’s wayfinding had to work within that setup, keeping Australia Post’s brand recognizable while fitting an office that looks and feels more like a warehouse.

Congratulations to Diadem for a space that connects the whole company, one postcode at a time.

In just one week, we’ll reveal the 2026 SEGD Achievement Award winners and officially induct four extraordinary design luminaries into the SEGD Fellowship, our organization's highest honor!

On Day 3 of the 2026 SEGD Conference, we’ll celebrate the leaders whose creativity and contributions have made a lasting impact on experience design and the SEGD community.

SEGD Past President Traci Sym will present this year’s Achievement Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions across our profession, from education and chapter leadership to career-long achievement.

One week from today, some of the world's best experiential design takes the stage in Kansas City.

Since 1987, the SEGD Global Design Awards have set the benchmark for work that connects people to place, rewarding projects that give spaces a sense of story and meaning. Past winners range from accessible museum exhibitions to airport wayfinding systems, and every one of them pushes the practice forward while improving everyday life for people of every background and ability.

On Friday, October 23, presenter Abigail Honor (Abby), will reveal this year’s winners across seven categories at the 2026 SEGD Global Design Awards Ceremony. Then the party begins. The SEGD Global Design Awards Celebration follows in the Barney Allis Historic Lobby, bringing winners and jurors together with the wider SEGD community to toast the teams behind the work.
