[Use case] 👉Healthcare

Medical claims processing is just as complex and time-consuming a process as it is expensive.

The rising costs of claims and the complexity of
claims management are among the most pressing challenges health insurance companies and other private payers face today.

Digitizing every step of the claims process, from data input to
payment, has the potential to streamline claims management, as well as boost its efficiency and accuracy.

One of the steps, invloved in claims management, is the pre-approval, which is done by the healthcare insurer.

Our client needed to improve their pre-approval claim processing, which currently entailed submission of a claim for approval but the documentation, needed for review, remained unfiltered.

Their existing process was cumbersome, time-consuming, error-prone, inconsistent, and incoherent.

The insurer engaged HyperAspect Cognitive Cloud to develop a decision support system, which automates the manual steps in the process and uses natural language processing to provide relevant content at the fingertips of the reviewers.

As a result, a medical professional can now quickly see all documents important to the procedure. His/ her decision is guided by automatically highlighted important sections within the document, which the system found relevant to the case.

Once the system was deployed, the time for claim pre-approval dropped to under 30 minutes, which provided a significant improvement in time and efficiency.
