๐จ SCAM ALERT โ PLEASE SHARE ๐จ
Phone scams are on the rise throughout Berrien County!
Scammers are calling residents and pretending to be law enforcement, including using the names of actual deputiesโtoday they used Deputy Simmons, but theyโve also used other deputies' names and even Sheriff Heit's name.
They claim you have a warrant for things like:
โ ๏ธ Failure to register as a s*x offender
โ ๏ธ Not showing up for jury duty
โ ๏ธ THIS IS A SCAM. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. โ ๏ธ
We will NEVER call you to tell you that you have a warrant.
If you have a warrant, we will come to your house.
These scammers are extremely convincing. If youโre ever unsure, hang up immediately and call the Berrien County Sheriff's Office directly at 269-983-7111 to verify.
โ NEVER give out personal information or send money over the phone.
โ If it sounds too goodโor too scaryโto be true, it probably is.
Please share this message widely, especially with older adults and those who may not be on Facebook. These scammers are targeting everyone, and we want to keep our community safe.
Stay alert, stay informed, and spread the word.
