So this is where I make my big announcement.
This is all talk text no edit
I'm just going to tell you how I really feel so if it doesn't make sense I apologize.
First of all thank you so much to everybody who stopped by last night to celebrate 10 years of brick and mortar at Surfin Cow Comics . That was really rad and I'm pretty sure everybody had a great time we threw a lot of awesome shows this year at the shop and I want to thank everyone who was apart of any that we did y'all are what's making the community thrive here in Waynesboro Pennsylvania and it's great to be a part of it. With that being said the comic shop has been a Love of mine for the last 10 years and all the time I spent before that cashing and thrashing setting up at Comic shows flea markets and all that fun stuff. To be honest I miss all that fun stuff. With running a brick and mortar you don't get to do that. Which brings me to my next topic I can remember back 10 years ago when I first opened my first door downtown Waynesboro the whole reason I opened a comic shop was because I was working on a band and we needed a place to practice and everyone told me dude you have so much inventory you should open up a comic shop it will go very well so hey that's what I did. And it went very well the only thing that didn't go very well was the second time my band I was trying to form got together the upstairs neighbors complained we were Knocking pictures off the Wall so that put a damper on playing at the shop so all I did for the next seven eight years was run a comic store a very successful one. I met so many cool people in the comic world and that world led me to rad people in the music world. So here we are 10 years later and I'm back on my bu****it of playing music I formed a band during covid called I Defeat I that went pretty good for a while but ended up falling apart. And variations of that got rebuilt but through that band it led me back into the music community local and distant and I've met a lot of really rad people there as well. When that band fell apart we tried forming another thing but that led with a lot of disappointment whether it be canceled practices not practicing or just people not having time to get together. Led me to exploring playing the acoustic guitar by myself in my own way. This was new to me. And I always told myself I want to play in a band I don't want to do acoustic stuff. Anyway for the last year and a half or so I've been doing that. When I first started doing it I didn't know how it would go but one show led to another and people seemed to enjoy it. Few people have always called me junk Punk because I have so much junk whether it be comic books toys video games all that fun stuff so I decided to go with that name. I printed some merch. Recorded a record and hit the road this year. The support system was overwhelming I know I've said this before but I sold 100 records 100 CDs over 100 t-shirts and played 91 shows this year. I think I actually played more shows than physical days I was open at surfin cow Comics this year. I've toured up and down the East Coast met some really rad people in the meantime doing so I have also missed out on some really rad opportunities this year whether it would be touring another country or traveling the whole way across the United States to play long string of shows. So basically what I'm trying to say at this point in my life I feel like the shop is holding me down. I don't want to miss rad opportunities doing something that cause me to open a comic shop in the first place. Playing rock and roll so with that being said I have decided to close the doors of surfin cow comics to pursue a career in punk rock. I know it sounds crazy right? Anyway I'm going to attempt to do it. Now don't be sad don't worry you can still buy stuff from me at three different locations in the tri-state region one being the Fayetteville antique Mall. The penmar antique Mall. And 1884 Market house. All of those places are open 7 days a week with employees that sell stuff for me so I don't have to be there. My eBay store will also continue online which to be honest 90% of my business for the last 2 years has been online. I have a strong support system on whatnot and much love to all of those people who have supported me over the last two years expect to see more of me in the future. Making all these moves unchained me and allows me more time for things that I want to do. Again huge thanks to everyone who has physically supported the store over the years it's been awesome. So that's a wrap on 2025. Now let's take a look at 2026 I mean I have an album I recorded it's done I'm going to be releasing that probably in March so I'm going to want to tour that. so get at me if you can help me get on some rad shows across the United States that be pretty cool. My 1st record is in 2nd pressing got to move those too so I'll be in operation scour the Earth once I get settled in 2026. I'm also excited to announce that I've met rad dude in New Jersey who lives in Kansas City this year and we have decided to start a COOL new band was a friend of his who lives out west who is also super Rad. We are gonna write a album then release it and tour when we can. . So I'm super STOKED about that. Its going to be a lot of fun. 🌞 One more thing...... all this running I'm doing around doesn't really give me a lot of time for home life. Always fishing hunting playing rock and roll or at the shop. Something's got to get cut out of the mix. Closing the shop was the most logical option. So that's my final deciding factor in getting rid of the shop. Doing so will give me more time at home with my wife ❤️ and four fur babies and hopefully balance out my degenerate Rock and roll lifestyle. I tell us the people all the time Getting old sucks. "Listen to punk rock "One more thing I'll say it thanks again for all of the business the connections the opportunities surfin cow comics brick and mortar has given me. I'm grateful for all of it but it's time to ascend and go super Saiyan. Much love zero hate zero regret I'm living my life for me.
